Ridiculist Tournament Rules
CAPTAINS & CO-CAPTAINS DUTIES
If you are a captain or co-captain of a team, it is your responsibility
to inform your teammates of anything they need to know concerning the tourney.
Please don't assume that one or the other will be taking care of things.
This is where the open line of communication comes into play. Copy each other
ALL emails sent out to your team, so that you are made aware of what's been
done. Any concerns brought to the attention of either one of you, should be
copied to the other. This way you will always be informed of what's happening.
Should you not be able to fulfill your captain or co-captain duties, or feel
that you want to step down: if you are a captain you can either appoint a new
captain, or have the team vote. If you are a co-captain stepping down, again,
it's up to the captain to appoint a new co-captain, or have the team vote. You
will need to let the Tourney Administrators know of these changes ASAP.
LISTING/LISTERS
This is an issue that has escalated once again in both tourney and regular ridic
rooms. Although we have NO control over this type of activity, we do NOT condone
it in this league. HOWEVER, we also discourage any kind of accusations/harassment
towards other tourney members. We want the tourney to be fun for all. So, in respect
to others, we ask that you exercise "good sportsmanship" in the games, and refrain
from cheating of ANY kind: i.e listing, googling AND stringing of answers. Stringing
of answers is considered cheating as well and should not be done. If you have a complaint
about someone cheating AND harassing other players please email the Toureny Administrator
at
[email protected], and the Administrators will address any issues that are brought
up individually. ANY form of harassment for ANY reason will NOT be tolerated. If a problem
arises during a Tourney Game, please inform the Monitor in charge of the problem via whisper,
and the Monitor then in turn will inform the Captain on the team, who will also VIA whisper
alert the player to either stop with the harassment or problem or leave the game. If the
problem persists, that player will be gagged (unvoiced) for the remainder of that game.
Under NO circumstances will a problem be dealt with IN the tourney room while a game is in
progress. Please be courteous to your fellow opponents and keep your comments to yourself.
Also, please do NOT bait fellow opponents to start a problem arising. Play Fair.
MONITORS
The Monitor of your game is ALWAYS in charge. They are there for a reason and please respect
their decisions when dealing with a problem that arises. They are following MY rules and those
of Talk City. If you have a problem with a player or any other problem arises, please let your
Monitor know, IF they can't help you, they will in turn alert me, either via whisper or email.
Please respect them.
FALSE STARTS
To eliminate the number of false starts of a game, there are a few simple rules to follow:
Captain and Co-Captains need to direct their teammates to their respective teams as they enter
the room. Remind and inform everyone that the games have not yet started. Captains of both teams
have to be in agreement on the start of the game. If your captain is not present, then it's the
co-captain's responsibility to follow through in the same manner. Also, if you notice anyone NOT
speaking in actions prior to the start of the game, please inform them to do so, to prevent accidental
scoring. In the even that there is an accidental score, we WILL clear the board. It is much easier to
clear a board then it is to remember what teams had what scores.
DROPOUTS
If you decide to drop out of tourney, you will need to let your captain know. The captain in turn
will inform the Tourney Administrators. Only the Administrators can officially take you off the team.
Should you decide you want to join again, you can sign up through email at
[email protected] and
you will be placed on the next available opening. Once you are placed on a team, the Captain of that
team will be informed. Your Captain will welcome you and inform your team memebers of your joining.
You will also be mailed the game schedule from your Captain or Co-Captain upon notification of your
placement to a team.
NO-SHOWS
This is not a stipulation, but rather a consideration to your team. If you can't make a game, please
let your team Captain or Co-Captain know ahead of time. Also, should there be a member who has missed
a considerable amount of games, it is the Captain's duty to get in touch with the member and request
confirmation of their continuation in the tourney. It is also the Captain's responsibility to copy the
Tourney Administrators on this.
SCHEDULES
Before you join the tourney, please make sure you can make most of the games based on the schedule. We
also ask that you please check the Ridic Tourney Message Board (your team message board, if you have one also)
frequently, changes and schedules will be posted there. The board is also where you can voice your opinions,
cocerns and complaints (hopefully none), cheer for your team, or just post for the fun of it. By all means,
please feel free to use the boards.
JOINING YOUR TOURNEY ROOM
Once you are informed of which room you are playing in, upon arrival to your tourney room, please be
aware of the following: 1. Every person upon entering the tourney room will not have a voice. This is
to discourage non-tourney members from participating in the tourney game. Upon arriving to your tourney
room, you will be "ungagged" or given "voice" by your Monitor of the games. IMPORTANT!!! It is your monitors
responsibility to make sure you are voiced. If you think you are not voiced, let your Captain or Co-Captain
know....NOT the opposing team's leaders. The Captain can then inform the Monitor. Captains, please make
sure you have adequate back-up in case of an emergency ! 2. We ask that you please arrive at least 10-15
minutes before game time, so that the monitors can "ungag" each and every one of you before the start of
the game. NO one will be "voiced" before 15 minutes before each game. 3. Please use the name you are signed
up with when you join tourney rooms. If you decide to change it please let your team Captain know. You will
not be given voice if you show up with a name that is not on the team roster, for the monitors will have no i
dea if you are a tourney member or not. Remember, the rooms are now public, so anyone with a "nick" can join
the rooms. Once you are given voice, if the scoreboard needs to be cleared, you are ALL to join one team and
help in clearing the scores. Once the scores are cleared, join your respective teams. During the time, prior
to the start of the game, whenever you speak in the room, PLEASE speak in actions (/me mode). This way you
will not affect the scores should you say something that the bot might pick up as an answer to a question round.
The Monitor in the room will advise the teams when they can start the game. If ANYONE consistantly does not
follow the /me mode rule, they WILL be UNvoiced till the start of the game.
CHAMP ROUNDS
NO champ rounds will be played.....Take this time to take a rest. Always remember if you "speak" in the
room, speak in action ONLY !! And please don't vote anyone champ, even for fun.
STATISTICS & SCORES
In this tourney we play best of three games per match, so any team who wins two games wins the match.
After each match, it is the Captain's or Co-Captain's responsiblity to keep track of the scores. Or,
at the Captain's discretion, you can ask for a volunteer score keeper. All stats are to be sent to the
Tourney Administrators.
So, good luck to all!!! Play fair!!! Have fun and may the best team win!!!
