Kym provided this picture of Haleigh and me from Remi & Rita's wedding.

On June 6, my team participated in the Relay for Life, an all-night run to raise money for cancer research. I raised $275, so thanks to all who contributed. This picture shows Cyrus and Karla Boadway holding our banner.

Here's our team: Maria & Boad's Buds. We did well, 32nd out of 170 teams.
Richard Boadway (CFO at Mosaid and team captain), Karla and a former Mosaidian. The winning team was called the Bytowne Boys, and they're all from 30 RCA which is a reserve artillery unit. They just flew by all night!
A couple Manotick girls were there too: Beth and Bianca.
Richard running. I think he's chasing the girl we called "Cocoa Beach". There were goddesses everywhere that night.
Me running! It's a grainy picture because it was 2:00 AM or something. I did well for the first two shifts, but had to walk for the second two shifts after my knee gave out.

Karla running.

Dave's friend Leslie had her birthday at our place, so I made a cake from scratch. It was OK, but not as good as my mom's...or Lise's.
Leslie and me. We saw Jesus Christ Superstar a couple weeks ago at the NAC. It was great! I wanted to see it for years. Carl Anderson headlined the show, but didn't appear that night: he played Judas in the movie.

Adam MacArthur and Phil Lacelle had their 30th birthdays at Adam's place on June 14. Here's Jeff Mayhew, Kelly, Mark, Carter, and Talia. Jenn is there too, talking to Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Johnny McCormack, Peter, Rich, and Bruce.

Adam with a present.

Adam and Phil with their cake. I think it's decorated with golf things. Phil and Jenn had their baby recently, I think it's a boy.
On June 21 I went to Richie's cottage by Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands. You can see it on the island in the background.
I like this picture of wild flowers and rocks contrasting the white fence. It's actually one of those new space-age picket fences that doesn't need maintenance.
Me. I love their cottage! I was hoping to make it to Rob's cottage the same weekend, but wasn't organized enough. It was nice to relax anyway...that's what weekends are for, right? We did some excellent astronomy that night. But I wiped out on the slippery rocks while we lit fireworks. I think my elbow just stopped hurting today...unless I press on it wrong.
Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. She tried to even out their height by standing on a tall rock, but isn't fooling anyone!
On June 28 I went to Adam's place halfway between Ottawa and Montreal, near Carillion, Quebec. I don't know whether to call it a house or a winterized cottage, but it's great. This picture shows Martine, Karin & Adam. And Homer. Plus a couple chickens.
Martine and me. Sigh. My French is a little better than her English, I think, so that's what we generally use. She taught me a new word: "coloc" is room-mate, e.g. "Ton coloc, est-ce-qu'il est gay?" Ha! She saw a picture of him wearing his shiny blue disco shirt from Le Chateau. Well we warned him!
Martine, Adam, Steph, Karin, and me. I used the self-timer for this shot; a useful feature. It was Steph's 22nd birthday!
They are clowns, and Martine had to work the next day. Here she's getting started with her makeup.
Adam and Karin cooking, as Martine looks on. Karin is making a face which looks really odd at 75 DPI.
They are blowing up balloons for Martine's gigs. Have you ever tried to inflate one? I find it impossible!
Karin picking her nose...no, just kidding. She's taking all the balloons curved into flowers, and combining them into bouquets.
And here's Totoche all set to go! You can see the huge tree behind her and the river beyond.
We had a rainstorm here a few days later, and this picture shows a couple horses through the trees with a rainbow above. Rainbows are nebulous things; hard to photograph.
On July 5 I went to the Yates family BBQ at Baxter Park. Here's Jeff, Chuck, Chad, and me. I think I just hit the ball, and Chad is getting ready to return the volley. Mrs. Yates took these pictures.
Chad's wife (I always forget her name) with their baby daughter Madison and neice Kaitlin (I think). She used to work at GMSI, or whatever it was called at the time.
Kaitlin and Madison.
The Yates family. Chad's wife, Madison, Kaitlin, Robyn's friend Grace, Robyn, Jeff, Chad, Mrs. Yates, Chad, Wendy, Patrick, and Mr. Yates. A pretty good shot actually, though grainy at 75 DPI. I sounded off in a thunderous voice, "One! Two! Three!", so everyone was smiling and looking the right way.
Robyn and me.
After the beach, Grace had us all make pictures for Robyn & Jeff's apartment. Here's Chad.
Mr. Yates. He said my picture sucks...! Actually I said that, and he simply agreed: "Yes Rick, it does suck". Dave showed up and did an awesome one.
Grace. A striking picture actually, with good light.
Robyn's friends Craig & Collen were also there with Casey, and camped with us that night. Or to be more correct, we camped with them, since they set the whole thing up!
Here's Casey filling up a cup with water to splash Jeff, who was lying there innocently. Or you could say their son splashed someone in the Sunday morning sun (I'm getting tired).
Another good astronomy night! Since my last report I found M11 near Altair, M22 near Saggitarius, and Mars looks amazing after 2:00 AM or so. I can make out surface detail and the polar ice caps glinting white against the rust. I like that line.

On July 7, I saw the Salamander Young Theatre Company perform Romeo and Juliet in Manotick. It was great. More pictures next time, if they turn out. This one shows Romeo and Benvolio(?) at the beginning of the play, when Romeo is describing the girl who just broke his heart...before he met Juliet. Ha ha, living with Dave I hear these stories all the time!
I saw them do Midsummer Night's Dream last year, and next week they're doing Two Gentlemen of Verona. The following week, the Company of Fools are doing Much Ado About Nothing.
