The Steele's Ponds
We are in our 11th year of ponding.  We started with two preformed puddles connected by a preformed stream.  We, not knowing any better, started with about a dozen koi, three comets, and a dozen channel catfish in the total 400 gallons of water.  We gave away all but one of the catfish, and lost one of the comets.
The first two ponds  situated in the middle of the back yard lawn.
The lower pond with its plants growing lush and full.
The top pond overgrown with parrots feather, pickerel rush, mimniature papyrus and canna.
The second year, our koi had grown so big that they could hardly turn around.  We met Ray Abell and had to have some of his Japanese imports, and of course the local pond place had lots of new and pretty fish.  We put in our first liner pond, and it was approximately 1800 gallons.  The spillway from it went to the upper preformed pond and then to the lower preformed pond.
This is an overall view of the three ponds.
This is my 1800 Gallon pond.
