Service in the  Richmond Alumnae Chapter  has evolved throughout
the years.  Our service in the past consisted of several small  service
projects.  Last year we were introduced to the Mary Heinrich Home, an  assisted  living  home  for  6  developmentally  disabled   women
here  in  Richmond.    They  have   jobs,  friends,  and hobbies,  but
we  were able  to do special  little  things  for  them -   movie  nights,
dinners,  manicures,  cards,  goodies,  etc.   This  was  a   wonderful
addition  to  our  service.    The  ladies at the home were blessed  by
it  and  so  were  we.    However,    these  women  keep  very  early
evening  schedules  which  meant  several  people in our chapter that
would  have  loved to participate  in  a service project were unable to due  to  time   constraints  created   by   normal   work   and   family schedules.

We  understand  this.   So,  this  year  we will  be combining the two
approaches.   We  will  be  doing  a   small  service  project  at  each
meeting  where  you  will  be  able to bring  an  item  to a meeting or
send  it  with  another  sister  you  know  will  be  in  attendance that
meeting.   We  will also continue  to  serve the Mary Heinrich Home,
as  it  was  so  rewarding  to  us  and  them.    This  will  allow us to
participate in a broader spectrum of service areas and  hopefully will
allow  all  the  sisters  in  our   chapter   to   participate   in    service
throughout  the  year  in  one  way  or  another.

Service  as a whole will  be overseen  by  the  Executive Committee.
Individuals will be responsible for various service projects.   We  will
need volunteers for the following areas:

Race for the Cure -  (3 co-chair persons) responsible  for attending race   meetings,  coordinating  donations  for  survivor  goody  bags,
coordinating  food  and  flower  donations  for  the  Survivor   Tent,
ensuring  we  have  a  Fashions  mailing  list  sign  up  book present,
etc.  and  coordinating  for  staffing  to  work the tent the day of the
race

Think Pink-
assist  in  deciding  how  we  can  best  distribute pink
ribbons,  help plan  for  these  events,  and  coordinate the people to
staff  the  events (eg. NFL Game, HS Football Games, Pharmacies,
Doctors Offices, etc.)

Fashions for the Cure (steering committee of 4-6)- As a member of this steering committee, you will direct a committee of 10-12+  in
making  our  Fashion  for  the  Cure  a  success.      This    Steering
Committee  will  have  the  final say TOGETHER on  issues so that
no  one  person  decides  anything  without  discussion.   This being
our  major  fundraiser  and a  major  service  project  to educate the
community about breast cancer,  you  must make  sure  you  have a
good  amount  of  time  to commit  to  this  project.

ARC Party-  The  ARC  Party   Coordinator   is    responsible   for
contacting  ARC  to  determine  the  date  that  has  been set for the
party,   how  many  gifts  are  needed,   what   food   we   need   to
contribute,  coordinating  ZTA  volunteers for  this  event   and  the
delivery  of  the  gifts  and  food  on  the  party  day.

Monthly Service Project Coordinator-  This  person is responsible
for  ensuring  donated  items get  delivered  to  the donation site each
month  and  ensuring  we  have  a  proper  contact  to  work  with.

SBE Shower Cards-  This  coordinator  is responsible for coming up
with  creative  ideas for  getting  more  SBE  Shower  Cards  into the
community   (hotels,   pharmacies,  doctors  offices,  etc.),     getting
volunteers to carry out those ideas,  and tracking the  distribution  of
SBE Shower Cards  for  our  Annual  Report.

Mary Heinrich Home Monthly Visits-  This  coordinator  needs to remain in close contact with  the  directors  of  the  home,  providing
them  with  updated  membership  lists,  coordinating  events,     and
making sure we know any special restrictions or needs.
