Event : Richie Concert 2004, 任賢齊齊齊玩演唱會2004
Venue : Hong Kong
Date : 30th April 2004, Friday

This is the first time going oversea for concert moreover is XiaoQi's Concert. Can't really describe the feeling. Altogether there were 10 of us who will be going for the concert.

Miffy and Kimberly arrived one day earlier (29/04/2004). They have their nice time in Hong Kong first. Florence, Janice, Lai Fun, Suet Fen, Wendy, Marian, Yoke Heng and I arrived on the same day at the concert, 30/04/2004. Upon arrival in Hong Kong around 12p.m., we made our way out the departure hall and look for the tour guide. We managed to find him and proceed to the transport heading to the hotel, Dorsett Seaview Hotel. Meanwhile, Janice and Lai Fun arived later as they took a different flight. Miffy, Kimberly, Lai Fun and Janice stayed in a nearby hotel, Eaton Hotel.

At 6p.m., all of us gathered together at Dorsett to make our way to Hong Kong Colliseum, Hung Ham. Upon arrival, we managed to catch hold of XiaoQi and his gangs in prayers at the Colliseum side door. After we got the tickets from Zhong Zhong, we hang around the area to wait for entrance. Meanwhile, we took some photos and some of us queued to buy XiaoQi's concert souvenirs.

At last the concert started, wow... u must see how beautiful it is..... where the the floor is filled with fluorescent light. Hardly, find this in Malaysia. The condition is so 'Hot'..... Frankly, XiaoQi sang alot of songs hardly remember the list of songs. BUt only remember how smart he looks. Can't be neglected is his costume, changing one after another. From Warrior to Driver to Cowboy and so on..... The one I liked most is the white costume having chinese style and sewed with dragon in silver threads, with him wearing black sunglass. He sang 'One Nigth in Beijing' while wearing this. At the same time, the screen showed XiaoQi's look in an Opera Costume acting as a lady. Wow....... Frankly can't tell is him. But this really built up the atmosphere of the audience.

Six of us met at the KL airport, some still looking sleepy-eyed cos it was 6.30 in the morning. Some of us got up as early as 4.30 am, understandably feeling anxious and excited. We arrived approx. 1 pm and took time to freshen and rest up for the concert tonight.

We were at the Hung Hom Coliseum by 6.15 pm and shortly after managed to catch Richie at the praying ceremony. It was a surprise cos we didn't expect this. He wore a scarf to cover his hairstyle but the wind blew the tail end up and partly exposed his hair. From a distance I saw it was some sort of light-coloured wig but he quickly covered it back up with a sheepish smile. The fans got very excited seeing him in person. After offering prayers, Richie together with another person (his boss I guess) cut the roasted pig, ate a piece, and went back into the building without forgetting to wave to us.

At the side of the building, tables were set up with concert souvenirs for fans to claim (they had previously ordered the items, e.g. t-shirts, caps, Richie pendant, etc.). Also on sale were Richie's recent vcds, cds and dvds. Sales were pretty brisk.

Fans from China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and others were all gathered there and there was a lot of fellowship among us. I finally managed to put faces to names I've come across on the various websites, people like Jane, Jen, Chung Chung, Kitty, Billy, Sandy. It was pretty interesting and they were all very friendly people.

For us Malaysians we wore our Richie red-colour uniform t-shirt and put on our Malaysian-flag head-scarf. We met up with 4 others so all in we were 10 in a row, looking quite outstanding in our uniformity.

The show started sharp at 8.30 pm. Of course the audience erupted on Richie's entrance. He looked simply gorgeous with his braided tied-up hairstyle and caped costume. The first song was 'Xin Tai Ruan' but he'd changed it to fast tempo accompanied with dance steps. And you bet he can dance. His steps were smooth and professional. I would say he passed with flying colours.

The show lasted almost 3 hours and honestly for the life of me I cannot remember what songs he sang and in which order. All I can say is the audience were enthralled and mesmerised by his performance. Family members were especially so wonderful in their support and reponse. In the darkness the glow sticks were a sight to behold, swaying in step with his music. The warmth and love were so obviously oozing out. How can Richie not be touched?

In the farewell song, the sound caught in his throat but he soon got over it and soon he was waving goodbye. Richie really prepared a lot to give us a wonderful show. He sang 2 Hokkien songs - 'Set Out Again' and 'Love Station'. He also did Cantonese numbers with William So and one of Sam Hui's song. He invited a lady on to the stage and she rode at the back of his bike while he sang 'Flower Blossoms'. The lady was so happy, clasping his waist tightly from behind that the crowd gave a roar. He had to gently unclasp her hands after the stint and she looked so reluctantly to get down from the bike. I'm sure the lady must be hoping the ride would never end. Sigh! Richie then presented her with a gift (sponsored by a telecom. co. - a handphone I guess). Then there was a theatrical show that has a story-line with songs from Richie's 'Condor Heroes' and 'State of Divinity'. This was also something of a surprise and he looked so 'heroic' there. The cowboy outfit was also very nice. His lasso trick went smoothly as he sang the song 'Get out and don't come back'. The majority of us agree that the best part was his rendition of 'One Night in Beijing'. That was in the encore section. Cloth screen dropped down on four sides and projected on the screen was Richie in his female Chinese opera role. He was singing the female part in opera high notes and the real-person Richie came up from the elevated stage dressed in white spotting dark glasses (the Wong Fei Hung type) singing the male part - that means he's singing both the male and female part. I'm pretty sure he's the first person to present a song in such a manner and the audience just loved it. Very impressive and unique. Even though he sang a total of 30+ songs, but we all felt it was over too soon. It was such a feast to the eyes and ears. What more can I say? A truly unforgettable and beautiful night!
