| James Irwin was selected as an astronaut in NASA's fifth class (1966). He made his only space flight in 1971 when he few as the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 15. During this mission, Irwin became the eighth man to walk on the moon during mankind's historic fourth moon landing. He retired from NASA in 1972 having spent 12 days in space. On August 8, 1991, Jim Irwin died of a heart attack. My Collection: This is a Apollo 12 crew sketch (with fake signatures) which Irwin has autographed below the LMP Alan Bean's name (Irwin was Apollo 12's backup LMP). |
