I had just taken a picture of some bicyclists waiting to cross at a street corner, each in a different brightly colored uniform, which I was hoping might make an interesting picture, when I dropped my camera and it went skitting across the pavement. I was afraid it might be broken, and in fact at first seemed unable to power it up again by hitting the mode button. I finally used the on/off button, even though I knew it would wipe my cyclists from memory. And now it seems fine, of course. What difference, I ended up the day with several nice pictures. Like the geese flying over a bare tree that would have made an excellent composition, had I been able to retrieve my camera from my pocket in time while buckled into my seat, these ephemeral moments pass by and it's futile to try and stop them.
