On rectal examination, the inferior portion of what was believed to be a beer bottle was palpated. Several attempts to remove the item non-surgically failed.

The following day the patient was taken to the operating theater. He was prepped and draped in the usual fashion. A lower midline incision was carried out under general anesthesia. The abdominal cavity was entered and the distal sigmoid colon was identified. A longitudinal colotomy was preformed and a 12 ounce empty brown bottle wrapped in plastic was removed.

The colotomy was then closed, and the abdominal cavity was closed in layers. The patient was sent to the recovery room in stable condition.
The bottle was a "Firend" Light!
