About this website project.

In 2002, I had worked on a collaborative Book project with Canadian artist
Jamelie Hassan called Caribbean Books. She enquired whether any of the images from the project were online.  This Web Project is a result of her question, its conception.

I had considered naming the Website Six Degrees of Separation, inspired by the chain of events that brought me here in the first place, and the probabilities of chance involved in my actually meeting all the artists that I have both in Canada and here in Trinidad, West Indies.

Since 2004, my experience of publishing on line has been an enjoyable one. This Website has proven to be a learning experience for me and has helped me understand what actually works and what is necessary for you, the viewer.

The aim of this Website is to open a dialogue of Art Practice in a public forum and as a learning tool, a series of Virtual Exhibitions curated by the
Artists themselves, without the restrictions of galleries, the emphasis being mainly on Art Projects. Here the public at large can access and explore the work of international artists and their vision on a Network designed solely for that purpose. In 2005, elements of the bookmann's  Public Art series launched into  ablogger Titled thebookmann, it is considered as one of most  informative websites regarding contemporary Art and the way Art is perceived : .:

"A commentary place at face value on Art, wall paintings, architecture, posters, typography, design, street graffiti, television, film and other kitsch based works in the environment that normally goes unnoticed, but thrives in plain sight from Trinidad and Tobago".

Note: The views expressed on the Gallery Exhibition are those of the Artists themselves.  Comments are welcome through the artists' email addresses on the page. A list of the artists on this site  can be seen through the menu  "Artists" on the main page.

Oils 1987 The political times of the Bomb and India the painting studios, Toronto, 1987
The Yellow Christ
A painting at the National Gallery in Buffalo, New York. From there a series of seven oils entitled The yellow Christ series emerged.  Influenced by the French impressionist painter Paul Gauguins Le Christ jaune.   25x4 feet, 1988.

Without thinking, the physical act of painting tends to creeps up and finds itself on the covers or in pages of a Artbook.

A twist in reverse, for the series of architectural oil paintings,  The renaissance, 1992 I used as the foundation of the painting, pages from books.

The first Art handmade book for Susie Dayal, 1999 (see book 58k in Flash format) The prototype incorporated dyed pigments, computer generated images of herself, and inks fixed to the paper by the combination of oils and varnish.
Art Books 2000/1  using printed computerised mathematical geometric shapes to give paper a visual appeal. And Sizing and curing the paper made it looked and feel of vellum.

Vellum was a medium I have once used before in a Photographic installation, 1994. Painted blocks of translucent hues overlapping photographs of decay.  Focusing on Industrial Areas and Public Cemeteries across Toronto and the Caribbean.

I still practice photography and prefer the older film cameras to new digital formats providing you know how to use one. See
