| Jake's Diary Page 2 May 13, 12:52pm (PST) Day 3 Rice Consumed: More than enough I was finishing up my workout last night (you know, just the average 3000lb squats and 2500lb bench presses. Yeah, I'm hardcore), and I was getting so pissed about my dinner prospects. I was really craving some steak, maybe a burger, something non-rice. I went home and my wife made herself some lovely looking vegetables. Mmm, broccoli. Chopping broccoli. But, then I had an idea. I fried my rice. Not with the normal other stuff, like peas and meat. Just fried it in some olive oil. It made it chewy and a little different. I would recommend it. I believe that I was thinking myself out of my duty to eat a lot of rice. One may dread the thought of upcoming meals. However, that thought passes once one is actually consuming said meal. Today has been average, nothing overly exciting to comment on. I've been careful to pack a snack (rice), so that I don't go too long between feedings. One of my friends at work cooks great Italian food. Today he brought in spaghetti and meatballs for me. Positively cruel. That would be like him being on a diet where all he could eat was spaghetti and me bringing in some really great fried rice. But I wouldn't do that to him. (Bill, if you read this, I don't think that you were really cruel. I am just trying to express the irony of the situation in a way that will make people feel sorry for me and want to donate to the cause. That's all.) Oh, yesterday Eric made a comment about how my posts remind him of a Seinfeld episode. What the hell is that about? Maybe it would be funny if it made sense. Eric, your posts remind me of an episode of Jackass where Johnny Knoxville artificially inseminated a cow. Poopy. Just kidding, I do find humor in them. May 13, 1:14pm (PST) Day 3 Rice Consumed: See Above Oh yeah, I weighed myself last night. I weigh 222 pounds. Just in case, I am 5' 11", though I doubt that will change. But who knows? I don't think we fully understand the powers of rice. May 14, 12:15pm (PST) Day 4 Rice Consumed: Yes Color me chastised. Sheesh. Now Eric, when I emailed you about legal sauces, you mentioned that butter and salt, as long as the rice was cooked with said substances, was agreeable. Anything else was off limits. Now, I realize that olive oil is not butter, but they are both lipids. Me, being health conscious, decided to try the oil. But, if this is off limits, I won't do it again. Rest assured. I am dreading the barbecue today. I don't know if it was a busy week at work, or the fact that I've been eating just rice, but I've been terribly irritable. I'm glad to see that we are up to ~$80 on the donations. That means that it isn't all for naught. The novelty has definitely worn off, and I've lost count of the number of times I have hoped for an illness that would waive my oath to this challenge. It really is a mental game. I have figured out a trick for the weekends to stave off the boredom of rice. Sleep. Today I managed to keep my eyes closed till noon. If I go to bed at 10pm, that means I only have to be awake for 10 rice-eating hours. That's six hours less than a normal day. Shazaam! PAGE 3 HOME |
