Horses Residing at Fieldstone
LaFortuna de Besilu
1988  mare
We call her "Cookie"
Cookie is no longer sound enough for long rides due to an old fence injury
Maravilla Mejia
1981 mare
Maravilla is a past Top Ten Dam ,multiple  years.
She is now retired
Santana del Prado (Juan Miguel X Margarita del Prado)
Santana was injured in a training accident as a coming three year old.She tore some muscles in her buttocks, and also stress foundered at the same time. When she came home and the injuries were diagnosed, (We were told she had EPM) it was felt she wouldn't be a good broodmare prospect due to her health and also the fact that she was inbred..After I took over the farm,I took it upon myself to test breed this mare. With the help of someone else who had faith in her,I was given a breeding to a stallion. The result was a very tight gaited, very hot little filly with a great brain, but very sensitive.( LaBruja)The stallion I bred to was known for being this way so, no big surprise! But this filly is to tall for what the stallion owner wishes to produce in her program. For this reason she has declined to breed back to the mare.I would love for this mare to have a more productive existence. She loved being a mother. The farm owner does not want to breed as he wants to keep his numbers down and he is no longer 'big' in the business. I already have 4 horses and cannot afford nor do I need another or I would breed to this mare again. So I am looking for someone who would like to free lease this mare under these conditions:
Santana resides at Fieldstone at all times and we will not charge board for her
You would be responsible for all costs associated with:
getting mare and keeping mare pregnant -this would include Stud fee to your choosen stallion, vet costs for checking mare as to breeding cycle and readiness,Shipping costs for semen,AI costs, etc. Once mare is pronounced 30 days in foal you would then also be responsible for -farrier care (she has to be shod with aluminum wedge shoes up front every six weeks)-basic health care such as deworming, shots, dentistry-Emergency care if any- I will foal the mare at no charge or she can be sent to my Vet's clinic at your expense.-once foal is on the ground all costs for it are also your responsibility.-At weaning , terms can be worked out as far as if you want the foal to be weaned here and you haul home or if the distance is not to great we could haul both mare and foal to your farm, let them acclimate for a day or two and then pull the mare. All details can be discussed .If you want to purchase Santana that can also be discussed.
For more detailed info please email
I do have video of Santana in training before her injuries. At the time (1994) she was considered a fino prospect.I can also video her today in hand if you wish.
