| Richard Walters left Victoria for Western Australia in the late 1890's, his father, brothers and sisters either came with him or followed him not long after. All of his siblings except for Frederick James were married in WA. Richard went to the Goldfields upon arriving in WA. His beloved May Emma Maria Gilham followed him from Stawell to WA they were married upon her arrival in Fremantle on the 7th May 1901. They moved to the Goldfields and started their family. In 1911 they moved to Dongalocking near Narrogin, twelve months after they moved to Perth they had a number of residences until they settled in Bassendean living with their older children. They had thirteen children with Seven surviving. Richard and May are buried together at Karrakatta Cemetery Richard died 17th August 1950 at the age of 80 May died 13th May 1953 at the age of 76 |
