Arthur could not live with the tragedy and took his own life, just before the birth of Elsie in 1910. Charlotte later returned to Toora, Victoria and lived with her husbands family on a farm in Bennison, South Gippsland. Charlotte's father Richard Williams later joined her and he lived his life out with her.

Arthur's Family
Arthur's mother and father came to Australia aboard the ORWELL arriving in Australia in July 1859. Thomas Hanning selected land on the Franklin River (which is still farmed by the family today) He used this land to grow, process and market arrowroot. Thomas Hanning won a number of medals for his product, unfortunately he could not compete with larger industry.
