As you can see, I decorated a bit. This year for Halloween, I was an albino black woman. If you know, you know. If you don't, you don't. It's one of those things.

My kickass plans for celebrating tonight include:
-practicing my concerto
-having a seance
-writing some music history essays
-playing Myst V
-handing out candy with glass in it
-eating chocolate
-killing someone. Hey! It could be you!
-working on this stupid website and e-mailing stupid Yahoo

All in all, it should be a spooky night.

Who do you know that was once voted Hottest Girl in a CG Fanflick?

So a few weeks ago I was hanging out at a good friend's house, having a few drinks, etc. After a while, this person pulls us all aside to her computer, saying, 'You want to see the CG movie that I made while I was an undergrad?' I think, hell yes, this should be hilarious.

I was not disappointed. Also, the CG is really good. I was impressed. And it gets better! - it turns out this person was also voted hottest girl in a CG flick or something like that. By this time, I am laughing my ass off and can't remember when I had such a good time.

This film is about 45 min long and is still alive and well on the Internet. I happened to be able to find it on TheForce.Net. It is entitled Reciprocity. Here is a brief synopsis as published on the web:

The 3-Variable Funny Test

Mostly, I think that online personality tests are bullcrap and a waste of time. You will probably not find an analysis of my humor style to be funny at all, but you'll laugh when you see the photo of the drunk guy in this quiz. So take it.

Some Simple Math

Let's do some math.

For every six hours of ensembles work, we at UK get one hour of credit.

Most everyone is required by scholarship to be in 2 large ensembles per semester. All but handful of people are required to be in Marching Band, and everyone must audition for Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band.

That means that the average student does 20 hours of work per year for which he doesn't receive credit.

Many people would also like to participate in orchestra, for reasons I don't think I need to explain. This means that they do 30 hours of work per year that doesn't get recorded.

Here are some word problems for you:
If Maria, while earning a 4-year degree, spends 1 year in Marching Band, 3 years in Orchestra, and 4 years in Wind Ensemble, how many extra hours of credit does she complete?
That right. 80 hours.

If Seth, while earning a 5-year degree, spends 3 years in Marching Band, 4 years in Orchestra, and 5 years in Wind Ensemble/Symphony Band, how many extra hours of credit does he complete?
That right. 120 hours.

If Liz, while earning a 5-year degree, spends 4 years in Marching Band, 5 years in Orchestra, and 5 years in Wind Ensemble/Symphony Band, how many extra hours of credit does she complete?
That right. 140 hours.

What could I have done with the time I spent in my ensembles?
I could have earned a minor.
Liz could have earned a second degree.

Whoa. Just thought of that today...I'm just saying...It kind of means that earning one music degree is a lot like having a double-major.

Google Earth is quite possibly one of the coolest things a civilian could ever play with. It is no less than a satellite image of the entire Earth, showing terrain, houses, and people. I waste hours and hours of my time in this program. You download it from Google's site and can then view any place on Earth via your internet connection. It is very graphics intensive, so you need a fairly good graphics card and an extremely fast internet connection to fully appreciate its capabilities. There are also several graphics layers that you can turn on, showing building height, restaurants, attractions, street names, and schools.

This program will blow your mind.
