Kurnuk is
a Finnish-written fanzine that specializes on rock, pop, garage
and punk from the indie/underground perspective not totally
unlike Bucketfull Of Brains, for example. All writers are passionate
music fans, do NOT get any money for writing and know what they're
talking about. The editor-in-chief is Miettinen, Finnish punk
and indie's grand old man (he'll probably kill me for sying
that…well, let's say he a grumpy old man with too many records)
who also runs a cool-cool radio show called Räkärodeo in the
Finnish national radio.
The publishing
pace seems to be about one issue every six months, but there
is a team of specialists working on trying to get more issues
out more quickly. Let's see what happens.
Rhythm Barrel
loves to write about pop, powerpop and americana for this mag,
but will also gladly review any kind of new and independent
rock and pop that is sent to the Rhythm Barrel address (linkki
osoite-sivulle!). You can also always get the latest issue of
Kurnuk from Rhythm Barrel, it's 20 FIM or the equivalent of
US$5 postpaid anywhere.
