Housing
When you get a tank for your gecko make sure it is the right size. If you need to read that part again click here. The tank needs to be quite hot. In the summer, during the day the tank should be 28-32 degrees centigrade, and at night it should be 20-22 degrees centigrade. In the winter the tank should be a lot cooler. In the day the tank should be 18-20 degrees centigrade, and at night the tank should be 15 degrees centigrade. Try and have an area in the tank that is hotter then the rest. So I suggest that you get a heat lamp that warms up one small area. Since leopard geckos are found in dry areas, you are going to need sand for the bottom of the cage. Use rocks and logs for decoration and for your geckos habitat. You can also use paper towel to cover the bottom of the cage. She/He will also need a place to hide, like a little cave. Plastic plants are highly recommended, for shade and habitat. If you look on your right you can see an example of a cage. Leopard geckos need a water bowl in the cage too. Occasionally leopard geckos will climb, so make sure you have branches and rocks to climb on. Another important utility is a heating pad, you put it under the tank, and it will warm up the sand that is above it. There is another heating device called a hot rock. WARNING! HOT ROCKS WILL BURN THE GECKOS UNDER BELLY, DO NOT GET THEM. Make sure that there are lots of shady spots. So she doesn't get too hot.
