Q & A
Does it matter what type of outfit I wear? You can wear whatever you are comfortable in.....pantsuit, dress, skirt with jacket or vest, sweats.....we don't care as long as it's purple or lavender. Remember....No rules! Just fun!
What if I can't find a lavender outfit? (that was MY question!) I say do the best you can. I used to be plus sized which didn't help matters and when I went shopping, I had better luck finding purple than lavender. So no one will kick you out if you wear purple or a lavender & purple print mix. (And nobody better kick me out either!) The premise of the Red Hat Society is to have fun and have no rules.....so let's do that!  And YES...you have to wear at HAT!

What types of things will we do?
Whatever we want to! We decide. We do the planning & scheduling, supply the ideas, look for places to visit. We want everyone to have a part in this so please help out and don't let one person do it all the time. It's not one person's club, it's OUR  club.

Ideas might be - garden tours, house or museum tours, lunch at new restaurant, play white elephant Bingo, have tea at your home, go to a local movie, see the play at a high school, college or theatre, go to local festivals, craft shows, go watch a concert, see a travelogue film, take the Southshore train to Chicago, tour a local winery, go thrift shopping, how about a great Italian restaurant? (Olive Garden...hint...hint....)The list is endless. Suggest anything you like to do, the rest of us may not have thought of it or would like to try it.

Do I have to attend every meeting or activity? No! That's the great thing about this club. It's all for fun. We realize not everyone may enjoy the same thing and so you may not want to go a concert or eat Chinese. You will still be invited and have the option to go or not. The group will more than likely grow with time and if all 24 ladies can't attend the next luncheon, that's okay.....we'll still have fun whether it's 20 that go or even if it's only 12! We do ask that you come to at least half of the events to be fair to those who would like to join..

Is it purple & red & pink? hehehehe....Sounds like a funny question, eh? You think you know your colors until you go out looking for an outfit! They come in so many shades such as violet, plum, lavender, wine, ruby red, rose pink, amethyst, scarlette, fushia, maroon, burgundy and mauve. Just do the best you can and maybe ask a friend for advice.
Where do I get my hat & accessories? You can buy a hat from the official RHS website or look at an on-line auction, shop the local thrift shops or look at a few local stores like Burlington Coat Factory, JC Penney or Sears.

Shopping at thrift stores can possibly save you money. You may find a hat that fits but is the wrong color......then you buy some spray paint and go to work. Buy some flowers & feathers to decorate. Buy Rit dye to change the color of a pair of white gloves. Use your imagination!
Remember - this is part of the fun! Wear a purple outfit with a red hat that doesn't go. Remember our inspirational poem on the main page.
UNDER Age 50 Wear a lavender outfit with a PINK hat & any accessories we think is necessary!
Age 50 yrs. & older - Wear a purple outfit with a RED hat. Dress it up and accent it with red jewelry, gloves, purse, scarves, feathers, whatever you can think of to draw attention to yourself!
What is Full Regalia?
The Purple Peacocks are a social group based solely to promote women and encourage individuality, personal growth and sisterhood.

Each member pays her own way to each activity she chooses to attend. You are also responsible for your own transportation to each event although it would be nice to be able to carpool to certain activities. You
may choose to do it all, or as much as your budget and time permits.

We hope that all members will take a turn at planning an event. With a wide variety of members, we should have a broad area of interesting things we can plan on.

We do ask that you come to at least half the events, luncheons, or dinners to be considered an active member. This is only fair to women who want to join and can't. You get to choose the meetings, or outings you are really interested in attending that fit into your busy schedule. This keeps up interest, and the bond with other members. You will need to check the website or call your phone buddy if you haven't been to the last meeting, to see what we are planning!
