| What kinds of pets can you adopt from the Humane Society? |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Humane Societies mostly have cats and dogs up for adoption. However, we often have other animals such as rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, and birds up for adoption. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| No matter what type of pet you are looking for, you can always check to see what the Humane Society has before going to a pet store. You'll probably pay less money for one of our pets, and you'll give a special animal a second chance! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What kinds of pets can you adopt from a pet store? |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pet stores have many domestic animals available, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, and fish. Lots of pet stores also sell exotic pets such as reptiles, amphibians, and birds. (Remember: Exotic pets are wild animals and it is unfair to keep them as pets.) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Before adopting a pet from a pet store, try checking with your local Humane Society, SPCA, or Animal Shelter to see if they have the pet you're looking for. You can also support the Humane Society by adopting a pet from Petcetera or PetSmart. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What about an adult dog or cat? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Many people want to adopt a cute puppy or kitten, but there are many adult dogs and cats at the Humane Society who will make excellent pets. Puppies and kittens can be a handful and they grow up quickly. Within less than a year, they will look just like those adult dogs and cats! Have you ever heard the saying "You can't teach an old dog new tricks"? Here's a little secret: it's not true! Adult dogs are often easier to train than puppies, just because they are a bit older, wiser, and calmer. Puppies, kittens, and adult pets can be adopted from your local Humane Society, SPCA, or Animal Shelter. |
