Silas Ratliff was my g-g-g-great grandfather, born abt 1809 VA and
died abt 1889 KY. Research shows that Silas was married twice.
His first marriage was to my g-g-g-great grandmother Anna Spradlin
on May 27, 1827 in Floyd County. I have read from the years 1844 to
1848 Johnson was formed in a county, which was previously part of
Floyd County. Silas was the only Ratliff residing in the area at
that time. In those days travel was slow and times were hard. You
prospered by the amount of hard work you wished to do, and if you
farmed you needed a large family to help. Anna's parents were
James Spradlin & Rachel Connelley. Rachel's parents were
Capt Henry Connelley & Ann MacGregor. James' father was
Joseph Spradlin. Anna was born abt 1809 in VA and
died abt 1881 in KY. Silas and Anna are buried at
Old James Spradlin Cemetery, Denver, KY.
His second marriage was to Martha Blanton on September 1, 1881.
She was b: abt 1854. Martha was 27 and Silas was 68 at the time.

was also Louisa's second marrige. Louisa was 26 at the time and Bud
