Brothers in arms. . .
Alastair Honeybun of Perth, Western Australia,
has sent in these shots taken while he was on call-up
in various bush and other Rhodesian
locations around 74/75/76.

Uniform look: Brothers Bruce, Gavin and Alastair Honeybun
on call-up. Bruce was in Signals doing his NS, Gavin was on extended call-up
and Alastair was in for a month. Alastair thinks the photo was taken in
Gwelo - possibly at Thornhill. Gavin and Alastair were both Medics based
in Thornhill but tended to get Bush postings as well.

5RRR bush shower on the opposite side of the runway
at Boli "International" airport 1975.

Going moggie: On call up with 5RR - Boli "International"
Airport 1975

Cave with fence: This is in the Matopos hills somewhere
taken
on 1974 MAIII training course. A mixture of NS and regulars.

This pub was at the same FAF. I was the resident Medic
and barman. Note the pinup pictures on the rear wall. The bar and stools
(solid logs) all hand-made with axes.

Chiboolie: Shot taken in from the back of a Land-Rover.
The guy with the beer is Fred Le Roux.

"Home Sweet Home" - slit trench built and occupied
by yours truly for
five weeks while on call up in the Boli area in 1975.

Wing and a prayer: Police Air Wing aircraft that flew in
to power lines on a routine patrol in the vicinity of the FAF in 1975. The
pilot was VERY lucky and redefined the definition of 'white' when he landed
the aircraft.

The victors in a bush cricket match at the conclusion of
the bush stint of an MAIII training course 1974. The two tall blokes in
the middle are Mike Cumming and John Coey (Canadian regular, killed in action
some time later). Mike Strauss, the course commander is in the white T shirt
and black shorts. Note the cricket bats - a baseball bat and a carved lump
of wood.
