Chronologically, this is the first lightsaber duel we see in the Star Wars saga. And really, there's not much too it. Qui-Gon is returning to Queen Amidala's ship with Anakin in tow, when Maul swoops down from his speeder and attacks. Anakin runs for the ship and Qui-Gon and Maul fight, until the ship passes overhead and Qui-Gon jumps on board. Which is about it. This fight is really just a small skirmish, as it's so short. We don't see much apart from some close up shots of cloaks and lightsabers, apart from one shot which shows Qui-Gon playing the defensive role against Maul's more agressive fighting. It does serve as a nice introduction to the Sith as the Jedi's direct opposites, and there's also the curiosity about why the handle of Darth Maul's lightsaber is that long.
