Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader
So here it is. The final lightsaber fight seen in the Star Wars saga and the final battle between father and son. Brought to the Death Star to face Emporer Palpatine, Luke attempts to strike him down, but is blocked by Vader. During a fierce battle, Luke proves that he is finally a Jedi, by showing his power and skill are equal to that of his father. Luke seems dangerously close to turning to the Dark Side, but after he kicks Vader down some steps, he pauses and looks at what he's doing. He comes to his senses and turns his lightsaber off, trying to reason with Vader instead, trying to find any traces of Anakin Skywalker that may be left. Vader slowly approaches him, before attacking again. But Luke quickly manages to raise his defences, and leaps over his father to safety, still trying to reason rather than fight. Vader throws his lightsaber at the walkway Luke is standing on, bringing it crashing to the floor, but Luke is nowhere to be seen. Vader tries to bring Luke out of hiding by telling him to turn to the Dark Side, hoping this will anger him enough to make him show himself. Luke manages to control himself though, until Vader reads his feelings and discovers that Leia is his sister. Vader threatens to turn her instead, and with a cry of anger, Luke charges forward, not even trying to fight properly, but just raining blow after angry blow on Vader. Vader just manages to block them, but is forced back against a railing, and collapses. Luke continues to attack, until he severs Vaders right hand. Luke looks at the mechanical hand lying before him, then looks down at his own mechanical hand. He turns off his lightsaber, and throws it aside. He has won. The Emporer has lost, and is killed when he attacks Luke, but Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker, defends his son and returns to the Light Side of the Force. This battle is amazing, but not for the same reasons as the three-way duel from episode I is amazing. This battle is more an emotional battle than any other in the saga. Luke's trying to control his anger and bring his father back is a wonderful sight, and when he finally does lose control and viciously attacks Vader, accompanied by one of the most emotional pieces of music that John Williams has contributed to the saga, a chill runs down your spine. This is the return of Anakin Skywalker. This is the moment Luke Skywalker proves himself to be, not only better than his father, but one of the greatest Jedi Knights ever. This is the moment when Emperor Palpatine is finally defeated. This is Star Wars.
