| Wednesday, 12/20/2006 I had my first guest at my new house, Mom stayed with me as she was passing through from Vermont to Maryland. Not too bad once Drew helped me figure out why the water was only warming up to room temperature. I also learned out to bleed a radiator. Check me out! I finally decided on my dress, ordered it, and it came in! It's beautiful and I'm so excited! We also decided on our honeymoon and booked the reservation last week. Yay! We really should have done that sooner, because now I'm definitely less obsessive over the wedding, knowing that I'm going someplace exotic for my honeymoon. I asked one of my TV students that just graduated if she would be willing to be the videographer for the wedding. She said she would have to check her planner before committing to it, but she doesn't think there will be a conflict and she really wants to do it. Yay! The Christmas/New Year holiday schedule is as follows: Tonight - finish Christmas shopping, Tomorrow - work @ SUNY, then Christmas dinner at Torches with the DRE staff, then exchanging gifts with Drew, Friday - work @ SUNY, then drive with Drew to Philly to see his family, Saturday - visit in Philly, then drive by myself to MD to see my mother and grandmother, and probably go shopping with them, then finish decorating the Christmas tree, Sunday - church, Christmas Eve stuff, call Sean and wish him a Merry Christmas (he's 14 hours ahead), then maybe the Christmas Eve Service, Monday - Merry Christmas!!, Tuesday - Drive to Pittsburgh with Drew, Wednesday - Drive back to MD by myself (Drew will head on to Mansfield), Thursday - do wedding stuff with my bridesmaids, and Friday through Monday - lots of sleep and TV! And I got my tree!! It's real, still alive, and fully decorated, with presents underneath. That's all from the lovely land of upstate NY. Merry Christmas! ~R. .~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~. Monday, 11/27/2006 I guess with moving, wedding planning, preparing for the upcoming holidays, and working 2 jobs, I haven't had much time to update my journal. I had to move the end of October because my lease was up. I found a place about 20 min. from my work and the rent is really good (utilities included). I'll be living there until the wedding. After the honeymoon, Drew and I will move my things to his place. Hopefully it will all fit. Drew's living room looks like the wedding section of a Michael's craft store. Way to take one for the team, Honey! I'll be moving those items to my dining room this week. We went to Virginia for Thanksgiving and he met a lot of my extended family on my mother's side. He also met my father for the first time. They all seem to still be ok with the idea of me marrying him. That's good. Mom, G-mom, and I went shopping for a mother of the bride dress on Friday, and we found one! For those unaware of the treacherous ground that encompasses M.O.B. dress shopping, suffice to say we are all still alive and speaking to each other... that has exceeded my expectations of success. Sean finished tech school in Biloxi, then he continued on to Florida for a month of additional training. He's now home in MD finishing up his visit before heading to Osan, S. Korea. I will miss him. Three weekends ago we went to a wedding in West Virginia (16 hours of driving total). I don't want to wait anymore to get married. Two weekends ago we went to Washington, D.C. and saw the brand new Air Force Memorial and walked around Arlington National Cemetery. Because they were tall enough, Drew and Sean saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We also saw the tombs of JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. I'm being very artsy-craftsy for the holidays... be prepared. I also want a live, 4-foot Christmas tree. I will get one. Everything else is status quo. Drew won't be living in Connecticut this week and this makes me very happy. The End. ~R. |
