| Wednesday 8/9/2006 So what's been going on the last 3 weks? Well the Lonestar Concert was a lot of fun, especially since it was free for us. Our anniversary was pretty low key because we were both really tired and Drew had to leave for Ohio the next day. While he was gone, Paul caome to visit and we had a fun time. We walked around Manhattan and had some good food, saw some new sights, were able to catch a show, and completely passed out at the end of the day. We also went to the FDR mansion, one of the local wineries, and down tot he Palisades Mall for sushi. Paul left from the mall to go home, and I walked around looking at certain types of fancy dresses. Even though I saw some really gorgeous dresses, I'm really not ready to start trying anything on yet because I'm still in the midst of my diet/workout regiment and I know the style that will look good on me now may not look good on em after I've lost weight. So I'm holding off on browsing too much. Drew had a really bad fiasco with US Airways when he was trying to get back home from Ohio. Pretty much, they let him get on a flight from Ohio to N. Carolina after his connecting flight had already been cancelled. Then when he got there and they couldn't put him on a different flight, they weren't going to put him up in a hotel. Finally, after many phone calls and complaints, they finally admitted that they had messed up and put him up for the night. He finally made it home the next day. We went to Greg's birthday party on Long Island last weekend and that was so much fun. Sherri is great!! It was good to see people and to meet new people. Sherri's roommate and I totally hit it off. Very cool. I also wanted to dog-nap Greg's dog, Moses. He was sooooo adorable, a lab/cocker-spaniel mix. Greg's dad is raising monarch butterflies and he let me hold one. I also got to watch them drink sugar water... that was just cool. Now I have to make gator mittens for Sherri before winter comes and she's trying to convince Drew and I to use Ziggy cake toppers on our wedding cake. On Sunday we went to the driving range and I learned how to swing a golf club. Not too bad, though I don't think I'm a natural like Tiger Woods. Last night we picked up our engagement pictures and they turned out really good. In other news, I don't have my security job anymore. They decided to outsource the dispatch portion of their business to someone else. I got the call that I ddn't have a job anymore 7.5 hours before I was supposed to go to work. That was sort of weird. But honestly, this came at a good time because I've wanted to get out of it for a while. Drew told me that his boss was looking for some extra help around the office with paperwork and organizing, so I got in touch with him, we met on Monday, he offered me a part-time position, and I took it. It's very flexible, though right now they're very behind so the more I can work to catch them up, the better. I'm striving for 10 hours per week, maybe a little more, but not too much. That's about it for now. More to come later. Hopefully no more heat waves. Aufwiedersehen, ~R. .~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~. Friday 7/21/2006 As most of you already know by now... I'm Engaged!!! :) We're so excited, still, and everything is going so great, so smoothly so far. God has blessed us so much, and I just can't stop praising Him! I keep having this feeling that our whole engagement/planning process is going to be a testament to God's greatness! How exciting is that?! ;) I feel like I've been on the phone constantly since Monday night and that I should just have my cell phone surgically attached to my ear... it'll save me some time. We had pictures taken last night and they came out soooo good. We looked so adorable together (if I do say so myself). Now we're trying to coordinate the parentals so they can meet and getting on the phone with prospective reception sites to get pricing lists and all that jazz. We're planning a meet & greet of parents at the end of August. Once we get information from reception sites, we'll start making appointments to visit them. We haven't chosen colors yet so that's still up in the air. I've decided that one way or another, this wedding is going to force me to stay in touch with people better. What else is going on? Drew and I are going to a Lonestar Concert tomorrow night, Sunday is both my brother's birthday and mine and Drew's 1 year anniversary. Paul is coming to visit next week so we're going to Manhattan on Tuesday and doing a wine tasting tour on Wednesday. I locked myself out of my apartment today so that's been fun trying to get back in. Luckily Drew was able to go by my place on his way back from Albany and unlocked the door with his spare key. I have to work tonight as usual and I can't wait for 4pm to get here so I can go home and get some rest. Remember to check back regularly for updates. Just so you know, the updates will probably be wedding related... such is life. Hugs & kisses, ~R. |
