Tuesday, 2/28/2006  HAPPY LAST DAY OF FEBRUARY!

The past couple weeks have been pretty good.  I've been enjoying the things that have been coming my way, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming weeks.  Valentine's Day was pretty low-key and relaxing since both Drew and I had to work late.  We ended up having a late dinner and catching up on all the drama in our respective jobs.  Honestly though, it was just nice to spend time with each other.
The following weekend was pretty uneventful because I was really tired, suffering from sinus headaches and migraines all weekend, and Drew was dealing with extenuating circumstances for work, so we couldn't really go anywhere.  When I wasn't drugged up on pain medicine, we watched the Daytona 500 on the 52" screen (woot!) and I finally finished the queen-sized knitted blanket in Cleveland Browns colors that I've been working on for Drew since October.  Super woohoo!
Both of us had President's Day off of work; therefore, we went down to the Palisades Mall in West Nyack (BTW, it's 4 stories tall), did some shopping, and saw
Good Night, and Good Luck in the stadium seating theater there.  And for those of you in the Greater Baltimore area of MD, you have no idea how lucky you are to have Muvico... no idea.  The movie was very good; I recommend it to people who appreciate historical films, as well as to those who enjoy being culturally and intellectually stimulated.  It's a movie that will make you think.

On Wednesday, February 22, Jen Diamond gave birth to her and Eric's first child, a baby girl, named Sarah Nicole.  Born @ 12:23am, 6 lbs. 14 oz., and 19.4" long.  Jen and Sarah are doing great!
This past weekend was my last to work both Friday and Saturday overnights at Apa.  I managed to complete two scarves with the leftover yarn from Drew's blanket.  I spent most of Saturday sleeping, even though I had slept for 4 hours Friday evening before going to work.  I'm blaming it on the weather.  Spring needs to get here quick!  I was going to go ice skating on Sunday afternoon (really really want to do that) but after church and lunch, I was feeling tired from not getting any sleep yet, so I ended up taking a 3 hour nap and going with Drew to see
Munich in Poughkeepsie.  It was very... *sigh* depressing.  But unfortunately, it's true.  It was hard to watch, and it leaves you with a subdued sense of hopelessness for the Israelis and the Palestinians... and the world.  I understood the German very well.  Apparently my language skills aren't completely shot since graduation.
Yesterday was another eventful day at work, filled with more politics, backlash, and even some threats.  See my link on
my work dilemma to get the full story.  Mind you, it's a long read, but will better explain than I ever could, in person, what work is really like right now.  As Drew put it, start working on an "emergency" back up plan.
In the upcoming weeks:  ice skating (hopefully), multiple visits to MD, visit from Mom, Sean, and Otto, Chris Kelley's wedding (but I won't be there, it's in Alaska), and St. Patty's Day.
     Upcoming birthdays:  Paul - 3/8, Joe - 3/8, my sister - 3/11, me - 3/13, and Henry - 3/18.

Well, until next time... "Good night, and good luck."
Monday, 2/13/2006

Alright... what's new?  I completely stressed out to the max last week and had a mini-meltdown on Wednesday but I'm doing better now.  On Friday the 3rd, I sent an email to my bosses at Apa Security, stating that beginning March 1st and due to extenuating circumstances, I would need to drop down to Friday overnights only.  I feel like February is dragging out so slowly now, but I'm very happy that I can look forward to a time in the near future when I will be able to sleep normal hours on the weekends and have the freedom to do much more with my time than I did before.
I went to the knitting/crocheting event at AC Moore with Sherri and we were such dorks... it was awesome!  I really missed hanging out with her and we got to be all artsy and girlie.  I got some yarn and a baby afghan book and I've already made one of the baby blankets for a woman that I work with.  I'm trying to finish up the several projects that I've been working on so I can try some new patterns.  Yeah, I get so excited about my knitting!  Sherri and I also had some lunch at a nifty little bistro near IBM.  Good food and good company, I'd like to try it again sometime.
I ended up not going to the Spaghetti Dinner because I was so tired.  :(  It's the story of my life, hence why I'm trying to change the script.  But last weekend Drew and I went to Sherri's 23rd birthday party and had a great time.  I got to see some people that I haven't seen in a while and meet some new and interesting folk as well.  We made dinner, had some ice cream cake for dessert, and true, it took us 3 hours to watch
Two for the Money but that was a good movie.  There was also a lot of talking about motorcycles so now I'm itching for the warm weather to get here so Drew and I can go riding again.
The Super Bowl party was a huge success!  We ran out of food before the end of the 1st quarter so that stunk, but we had a good turn out and that means we'll just have to order more and better food for next year.  Congrats to my brother on behalf of his favorite team winning!  (ie. the Steelers for those that aren't so football inclined)  Drew was inundated with introductions to both students and staff; I was nice and didn't give him a test afterwards on everyone's names.  Unfortunately, a damper was put on the evening because some of the senators and SA E-Board members (who have been inconsistent, immature troublemakers ever since we chose to spend $40,000 to upgrade the MPR) were enjoying the benefits of the renovation against which they are protesting so loudly.  This obviously made Bill angry and when he gets in a mood, it sort of emanates from him.
And let the festivities begin!!  No no, not the Olympics, (though Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma as the last act of the opening ceremony just rocked!) it's that time again that you either love or loath (and I personally love it)... Valentine's Day!  Actually, the V-Day celebrations started on Saturday for me and in spite of having to work, I had an absolutely fantastic weekend.  Romantic, candlelit dinner... slow-dancing... romantic/comedic movies... cuddling on the couch... napping for hours... it was perfect.  And Valentine's Day isn't even here yet!  Yeah, I'm so spoiled!  :)
And finally... the SNOW!!  I really shouldn't complain because we've been so lucky this winter compared to last year, and NYC got 26.9" where I only got 6-7" at my place.  Craziness!  I read that Columbia, MD (15 min. from my mother's house!) got 21".  The insanity!!  Though I'm sure my mom is having a field day because it means more skiing for her... she's so cute!
Well, that's about it for me.  Hugs and kisses and such... FYI:  I posted my email address on the main page because a couple people that I sent Christmas letters to wanted my email address, but unfortunately I didn't have theirs to send mine to them.  So if you are one of those people, please please please drop me an email, I'd love to hear from you!  But unfortunately, I have to be serious when I say that I don't appreciate emails from anonymous individuals because it's childish, cowardly... and it's harassment.  Even if someone else might think that it's funny, I don't.  I've had bad experiences with receiving judgmental, hurtful emails and that won't be tolerated.
Ugh, I very much dislike being provoked to harshness... anyways, lots of love and please be patient with me because I'm eating my elephant one bite at a time.

Ciao!
