| Wednesday, 12/7/2005 Yeah, I've been so bad about updating. This past month has flown by and I can't believe that the semester is over! It's been the shortest semester ever and I'm totally ready for winter break. I'll be taking 2 weeks off of both jobs so I hope to be able to visit family and friends, get some R & R, and hopefully travel to Mansfield w/ Drew. So I'll try to hit the big news highlights over the past month. Meeting Drew's parents was wonderful and I really enjoyed spending time with them. Apparently they really liked me too, so that's really good news. I wish some of my friends could be as openly happy for my happiness with Drew as his friends are for him, but I guess I'm just not that lucky. Whatever, what goes around comes around I suppose. I didn't do anything exciting for Halloween since I had to work late on that Monday night and that weekend I was working as well as spending time with Drew's parents. I dressed up as a cowgirl for work, and the guys got all their digs in deep, so now they have to leave me alone. ;) The first 3 weeks of November really went by like a blur. Congrats to James getting a job in Las Vegas!! I definitely think I need to plan a trip for this summer, finances permitting. I've never been to Vegas and I definitely think it's an experience I should have... and soon. I spent most of my time working a lot, lots of long hours, and spending the weekends with Drew. Honestly, it's a good life and I can't complain. Except for maybe the lack of sleep! Thanksgiving was a really great time, though also flying past like a blur. I had to work at the security company on Friday and Saturday night after Thanksgiving (and no, there wasn't anyone to cover for me because all the people that could have covered didn't want to because they had just worked on Thanksgiving day, so stop asking!) so that cut my time with my family really short. Because of the random freak snow storm that rushed through the north and mid-atlantic region, my cousins in Ohio couldn't come to Virginia for the holidays. But even though I miss seeing them, it was still a really good time. My grandmother is having more and more difficulty moving around, so this might have been the last Thanksgiving at her house. :( Sean and I also visited our dad and grandparents, always interesting. I also got to drive a Hyundai Santa Fe, very nice. Mom didn't like it so much, but that's becuase her legs are too short... shhh, don't tell her I said that. I rode the train from Newport News, Va. back to BWI in Md., picked up my car, then drove to Villanova (right outside of Philly) for a meet & greet dinner at Drew's aunt and uncle's house. I wish I could have stayed longer (work is highly overrated) because I really enjoyed meeting more of Drew's family and seeing his parents again. As well as I had been missing Drew something fierce at that point. Good news, Drew and I have finally agreed on a good size dog that both of us are ok with. He likes big dogs, I like little dogs, so we both talked about it, thought about it, and agreed that a dog the size of a Sheltie (the ones that look like smaller versions of Lassie) was a size that both of us would be happy with. Who would have thought that the size of a dog could be a deal-breaker? November 30th was Drew's 27th birthday (happy birthday honey!) so I took a half day off of work to drive to SUNY Oswego where Drew was doing a studio build so I could see him on his actual birthday. Then last weekend I took off work from the security company so we could spend the weekend together and celebrate. He didn't get into town until late on Friday night, but Saturday morning I made breakfast and then took him to a massage appointment at the Lefevre House in downtown New Paltz. It's actually a bed & breakfast spot and the house was absolutely gorgeous, so I think it would be a nice getaway sometime. Then we had lunch at the Village Tea Room, went back to my place, and fell asleep for a while, then woke up, got all dressed up, and then went to dinner and dancing at the Thayer Hotel at West Point. On the way home we got pulled over by a cop because the light over my rear license plate had burnt out! Oh for crying out loud that guy must have been bored!! Drew was driving and handed the officer his license and mine, and while I was trying to locate my registration, he decided to let us go. Drew and I are both of the opinion that he let us go because we were both so dressed up. We know it can't be the cleavage excuse because I was sitting in the passenger seat! ;)~ Sunday we went to church together and then breakfast, then napped, football, laundry, chess, and packing. It was a good weekend! :) And finally, yesterday my brother got a call from his Air Force recruiter and a computer networking job has opened up, so he's leaving for basic training at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas on April 11th. Mom seems to be handling it alright and even though she's going to miss him, she knows it's the best thing for him. I'm very happy for him (also a little nervous too), and I'm glad that he doesn't have to sit around waiting anymore. And when he's through with basic, it'll be great going to San Antonio to see him. Well, another month gone... ciao! |
