| Monday, 6/20/2005 So yeah, things are going alright, kinda same old same old. I called my dad last night to wish him a happy father's day... and I have once again been reminded that we have NOTHING in common. I now know what it truly means to be talking to a brick wall... I was telling him something that had happened that I had found funny, and when I was finished telling him, I seriously thought we had been disconnected because all I heard was silence... no laughter, not even a chuckle, no comment, not even a "uh-huh", nothing... he has absolutely no interest in anything that I'm doing or saying. Does anyone have a really awesome dad or uncle that I can adopt as a male figure in my life? I love my dad, it makes me very sad. Well on that happy note, I did lots of stuff this weekend though most of it was by myself because everyone went home to visit their parents. I saw Madagascar & The Perfect Man, both very cute and I'm glad I saw them. There's no way I could have gotten a male to go with me. I also went to a piano bar that was fantastic! It was very expensive though, but the guy that was playing the piano and singing was really good. I got a good recommendation from the bartender of a new place that just opened up in Fells Point that's really good. Too bad I live up here in NY. I also checked out the Hudson Valley Fair and saw the fireworks on Saturday night, and had my fill of funnel cake. By Sunday my motivation was running out and I ended up just relaxing and putting a puzzle together. I finished up the last few episodes of season 5 of Sex and the City. Now season 6 and then I'll be finished with the series. Last Wednesday I went out with 9 other people, and Brian and I introduced them to the delicacy of German food! There's this amazing german restaurant about 10 min. outside of town that was fantastic. Ok, I have to relate this really funny story that just makes me laugh so much, even still. Alright, when we went to dinner, Brian and I were the only ones there that had any kind of serious appreciation for German food, language, culture, etc. Well of course as he and I are telling people how to pronounce the beers and food, making food recommendations, etc etc, everyone else is making fun of the pronunciations, the fact that there were so man different kinds of beer, wursts, schnitzels, cheeses, and then they just started making fun of the language in general, and occasionally the history. It was all in fun though. Well, then the beer came (which of course is much stronger than any American beer) and so Bill said "no wonder Hitler came up with his crazy, kooky ideas... he just sat around with some friends, had a few too many beers, and went to it." And without missing a beat, Brian says "yeah, he probably go his ideas from sitting around and drinking beers with some "friends" while they made fun of his language, his food, and his cultural heritage." I was in hysterics, I couldn't stop laughing. And the sad part is, it's probably true. One day, Hitler was just tired of everyone who wasn't German making fun of his German-ness, and he just snapped. Because I know for Brian and I, it was getting kinda old too. Well, that's about it for now in terms of things going on. I have my 2nd class of belly dancing tonight and hopefully I'll have enough energy to push through it. Though last week was more difficult than usual, it was shimmy week. Which for anyone who hasn't been introduced to belly dance, that's the hardest move to master and even harder to sustain for long periods of time. Alright, that's all for now... Ciao!! |
