| Wednesday, 6/15/2005 The weekend with Barbara was totally awesome! We hung out with Bill and Brian at the Otter on Friday night, she tried blueberry beer and took a growler home for Wayne. We all had a blast, and then I showed her Joe's new apt. (minus furniture and such). Then we drove around and ended up at the Palace Diner for dessert and coffee. We ended up not getting home until 3am. Then on Sat. morning we were up at 9am (actually 8:30 because my mom called for a consultation about which blouse to where to the party). I had to pick up a bottle of wine for my aunt before we left, and then we drove to Jersey for Joe's graduation party. The party was fun, it was good to see Ed & Narine again, as well as Sherri, Greg, Rich, and Alex. Also there were some of Joe's family there that I hadn't seen since July last year, and some family that I hadn't met yet, so it was good to see/meet all of them. Joe's parents and my mom finally met, so that was really good. Trying to get Joe to dance was like pulling teeth, so I gave up and just danced with Karen, and Joe's aunt Dolly. Sat. night I went out with my mom, aunt, and Barbara to the rattlesnake cafe. We got food and drinks, and there was live music in the bar area, doing covers of U2 and the Beatles and such, not bad. My mom and aunt are so crazy together... it was like a glimpse into the future and probably what Barbara and I will be like in 20 years. I got a really good picture of me and Barbara, it's really great (though I'm sure she doesn't like it... she doesn't like most of the pictures of herself *poke*). We went back to my aunt's house and had appletinis and then crashed around midnight because we were so exhausted. Sun. we hung out until around noon, had lunch, and then headed back to NY. Barbara wanted to take my aunt's dogs with her, my aunt said she could have them, but Drew would get really upset about having to share. We got stuck in some serious traffic on the thruway, so what should have been a 1.5 hour trip turned into a 2.5-3 hour trip. But at least we were together and just chilling/talking/hanging out. And yes, I think when it comes to sitting in traffic, I am the most patient person alive. Then Barbara had to leave :( and go back to MD. Later that evening I went over to Joe's apt. and helped him get some stuff done around there. Monday was a sad day, it's been 1 year... some of us have learned a lot, others not so much... it still hurts and it probably always will. We can't be solely responsible for another person's happiness, but we can definitely be sensitive to their pain. Chica, it wasn't your fault, you're not omniscient, you couldn't have known what he would decide to do... I love you. The work situation/dilemma is still there, just kind of hanging there... waiting. It'll come to a resolution soon though, one way or another. I worked during the days this past weekend instead of overnights, which was probably a good thing because I was getting over being sick. On Tuesday I lost my voice, Wednesday I started coughing, Thursday I thought I was going to die, Friday I went to the doctor, Saturday I started feeling better, and by Sunday I was almost completely back to normal. Wednesday I left early from work to go to Joe's place and meet the movers and the cable guy. I'm so funny though, I felt bad about not helping the movers move stuff in, even though they're getting paid to do what they do. It was just weird. Though I was really surprised, we managed to unpack all the boxes in the span of that afternoon and evening. That evening was the first night that Joe made dinner at his new place (pasta of course) and we watched Blues Brothers. By the way, I love that movie, and it would have been better to have watched it before I watched the newer Blues Brothers movie about 8 years ago (oh my gosh I'm getting old!). It would have made much more sense that way. But yeah, I love James Brown and he's one of the first cameo-esque appearances in the original movie. Hail to the King of Soul!! Happy Belated 24th Birthday to Barbara!! We're so old now! When we were 18, 25 seemed soooo far away. Now it's right around the corner and it makes 30 look way to close for comfort. Uh- oh. :) This past Monday (2 days ago) I went to the local yoga center that's 2 min. down the road from my place, and checked out the belly dance class offered there. It was so much fun and I think I did really well. The method of teaching is a little different than what I'm used to, but it's all about form and technique, no matter how you focus on isolating the different muscles. So I think I'm finally going to cash in on my long awaiting Valetine's Day gift. So it took me 4 months to get up the motivation to find a dance class, but better late than never I suppose. Yesterday I finally got my couch at work. We had to move one of the couches out of the TV office, so Bill and Elkyn moved it into my office along the wall across from my desk. Now it's about as "full" as it was when the file cabinets were in there, but I'd much rather have a couch than 4 file cabinets any day. Alright, that's about all for now, more to come soon though, there always is. Until next time... Ciao!! .~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*~. Wednesday, 6/1/2005 I feel like I should update, but I'm not totally sure what to write. My work situation has become complicated, but I don't really want to go into it, I'll just post after it's all done. My sunburn is finally gone, after 4 painful days and peeling twice, and now the only part of me that has any color other than white is my shoulders. Figures. I think I might start tanning. Maybe... it depends. Friday night I had to call the police because of a domestic disturbance in my apt. complex parking lot. Beautiful. No problems since then... I thought for sure I was going to be a witness to a crime. It's finally gotten warm, temporarily. Now there's a bumble bee infestation along the overhang of the roof by the sidewalk that I have to take to get to my apt. Joe almost got stung on Sunday. Ugh, time to call maintenance, I'll just tell them I'm allergic and they really need to come out and spray. My car is making strange noises so I really need to take it in this week to have it looked at. I hope it's nothing serious. Friday evening I tried the renowned New Paltz delicacy... blueberry beer. It was actually pretty good. And the brewery is selling its beer by gallon sized growlers. How great is that? Too bad I already gave Joe his graduation gift or that would have been perfect. I also went to this ice cream/coffee/shake place in town and had the most amazing tropical shake. I highly recommend it... though they're going out of business soon. Corinna wants to buy it, but is having trouble finding people to invest with her. I went to Jersey for Memorial Day. Hung out with Joe, went to the local parade, went shopping for some home type stuff and for party snacks, then I fell asleep on the couch in the computer room while Joe fought with the wireless router. Had some of Joe's mom's fantastic cooking and finally met one of Joe's super-close friends from high school and we all played star wars monopoly until almost midnight. It was a very long, but great day, wouldn't change a thing. Brian isn't leaving yet, and I'm very happy about that. He's a great guy and I'll miss him when supposedly he really will be leaving the end of July. I told him he just wanted to have a party in his honor, that he really wasn't going to go at all. So of course we're all going to go out to celebrate him NOT leaving... we're always looking for a reason to party. Well, I guess that's it, maybe... this coming weekend is going to be absolutely fabulous... I'll post about it next week. Until then... Ciao!! |
