| Wednesday, 2/23/2005 Should I start with the good or the bad news? I'll go cronological and see how it falls. Friday night Joe and I went to a free comedy show at Marist, serving free food and drink. Our kind of entertainment. And the guy was hilarious. Saturday we had breakfast for lunch, went over to the mall so I could pick up a gift for one of my coworkers, got the 2nd season of SATC, meandered around Best Buy and Target, went food shopping, and then after playing with Joe's legos for about an hour, I went home to my apt. and proceeded to be domestic. Sunday I kept chilling/being domestic, talked on IM for a really long time, and in the evening I went to another comedy show at Marist, this time with Sherri and Greg. This guy was good, I laughed a lot, but it wasn't side-splitting like the other guy. Poor Sherri was really sick though, so instead of going out afterwards, we called it a night and Joe and I went to the Palace Diner for some dessert. BTW, I love chocolate mousse cake (so much for my diet). It started snowing sometime around 10:30pm and by the time we left the diner, there was 2 inches all over everything. Even though Monday was a holiday, I had planned on going into work anyway. But when the snow was all done, there was about 6-8 inches and just enough to make me decide to stay home and enjoy my vacation day. I continued to be domestic, hanging pictures, dusting, etc etc. and watching the President's Day American Chopper marathon... yay! I fell asleep in the afternoon and had this really bad dream about zombies and demons that were black and oily and slimy with snakes sprouting out of their hair and fingers chasing me around and I couldn't get away. *deep breath* I wonder what metaphoric display of my life that represented. Anyways, Monday was a good snow day. Yesterday was a very very long day with definite ups and downs. Work was kinda crazy, tv e-board was a disappointment, I managed to get me, Bill, Elkyn, Corinna, Brian, and Emily all together for chinese food after work (it was originally supposed to be sushi, but we changed our minds... sushi is next week), and around 9:30pm my mom called me from the emergency room. My brother got into a car accident (with another car, she was at fault) on his way home from working in Annapolis. His collar bone, left shoulder, and left hip were bruised from the seat belt that kept him from going through the windshield. He can't take deep breaths because his chest is sore from the impact. He slammed his knees into the front dash, and broke his right thumb on the steering wheel. He has an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow... he might have to get a pin put in his thumb. The entire driver's side front end was smashed into the cab and it's a miracle that he wasn't crushed. The front floor board crumpled under his feet and somehow he spun around on impact and hit something with his back bumper. The car was totalled but amazingly Sean was able to walk away. He was ambulanced to the ER along with the driver of the other car. Apparently her car was totalled too, but she didn't have any life threatening injuries either. I had to call my dad because I knew Sean couldn't and Mom wouldn't. I also had to call my brother's girlfriend. Eventually, after talking to my mom, my dad, my mom again, and finally my brother, I went over to Joe's to watch them play poker and take my mind off of everything. I didn't play because it was dealer's choice and I was exhausted. On my way back to my apt. I remembered that I had to come into work at 8:30 this morning. I got about 5 hours of sleep. I'm debating whether to drive home to MD this weekend or not, because there's nothing I can do there, but I also hate being 5 hours away right now. We'll see. Now, I'm just exhausted and I can't wait to go home and collapse. Crazy week. -Ciao! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Thursday, 2/17/2005 Hey kids, I'm back. I hope you all enjoyed my website diversion for a little bit, but time to get back on track. So last Thursday night was hell. Friday day wasn't great either (poor Bill had to deal with an assistant that was trying to blink back tears all morning) but by Friday night everything was talked out, dealt with, and all better. A year of dating and only one major clash... not too shabby. Thank you again to James for listening to me Thursday night, and thank you to Sherri (and Greg by extension) for listening on Friday. You guys are such amazing friends and I appreciate you so much! On Sunday I saw Avenue Q on Broadway. It was through the Office of College Activities and Bill was supposed to go too, but he backed out and Audra took his spot. So Audra and I hung out, walked around Times Square, had lunch together, and then went to the show. It was so freakin' hilarious! And, to anyone who has graduated from college in the last year, or is about to graduate in the next 6 months or so, go and see this show... it's perfect! Monday, Valentine's Day, was fantastic. As usual, I was running late getting out of work (not my fault, was in an internship meeting that went really really long) so I had about 30 min. to do my hair, get dressed, put on make-up, etc etc. I managed it in 45 min. I was pretty proud. Joe and I had a great time at Cosimos for dinner. We really enjoyed spending time together, and for me it meant a lot more because I was fresh out of the "I-can't-take-us-for-granted" moment of Thursday. We had a great evening! Work has been crazy, and keeps staying crazy, for the past 3 weeks. Just when I think I have a moment to breath and I'm finally caught up, something else comes along. As I told someone in the elevator today, just when I put a band-aid on problem, another problem happens. And this is what happens when your "boss" is also your "staff". Specifically, because TCMC falls under the umbrella of student organizations, the students are our "bosses"... but because we supervise and advise the students that run the TV and radio stations, the students are our "staff" and they work for us. Note to anyone who is looking to run a business, this model does NOT work. So yeah, it's been crazy, and some days I just want to shake them all and say "Just do your job!" But Bill, Elkyn, and I make each other laugh and somehow keep each other sane. Thank goodness! Alright, that's it for me right now... update to the main page is coming, but I've been busy with other things so right now it'll have to wait. Cheers all, and good luck Megan on all your interviews. Ciao! |
