Good times this weekend, I drove back to MD Friday night and spent Saturday and Sunday with Barbara and my family.  But first, let me quickly recount my insane Thursday night/Friday morning.  I discovered Thurs. night that my car's headlights weren't working.  So early Friday morning I had to drive to Wappingers Falls (about 25 min. from my apt.) to have my car checked out.  In the process of getting my stuff together to leave, I locked myself out of my apt.  Luckily I had my purse with a spare set of car keys in the bottom, so I went ahead to the auto shop.  They checked out my car, told me the problem and the cost to fix it (yipe!) and that it would take about 1.5 hours of labor time.  I actually had to go to work because several students were coming to my office that morning to pick up camera equipment, so I had to be there.  I drove back towards work, but as I was getting closer to my apt. (it's on the way), I called the apt. office and explained my key dilemna.  The maint. guy met me at my apt. to open up my door.  Luckily he was near by and it wasn't a huge inconvenience for him.  Plus I didn't have to wait long for him.  Anyways, so I got my keys back, made it to work by 10am and didn't miss any of the students.  At 12 noon, Elkyn came in and I left to take my car back to the auto shop to have the headlight switch in the dashboard replaced.  I arrived back at work just in time for the radio e-board meeting, and phew, that was my crazy day.  The headlights were fixed and I was able to drive back to MD on Friday night.

On Saturday, Barbara and I went to Ren Fest (yes!!  it was great!!) and had a blast.  We saw Puke & Snot twice, as well as Hilby, the skinny German juggle boy, Hack & Slash, The Boody Drama, and The Joust (as well as bits and pieces of Johnny Fox, Swordswallower).  We also ate lots of food (gaining weight, who cares, the food is worth it) and had our faces painted.  I've decided that Barbara is one of the few people with whom I can miander around shops because she likes to look too and doesn't get bored or dizzy. ;) Don't miss the
pictures too!  So when all was over, we sat in parking lot traffic for an hour, observed the crazy, parking lot raged man stand in front of someone's car so that the car he was in could pull out.  It was pure craziness.  But good times anyway, it gave Barbara and I time to discuss who we might vote for.

On Sunday, I finished my laundry, packed up the things I'd forgotten, and Mom and I went to Target for some home decor shopping.  The funny thing was, I was the one that was supposed to buy things, but she ended up going on a shopping spree.  It was cute though, but now I have to find another Christmas gift for her.  I was going to get her a chenille blanket, but she found a couple on sale, so she picked them up.  Oh well, I still have 2 months left.  I relaxed and napped for about an hour, and then I drove back to NY in the evening.  Hehe, it might have been a little cold in MD, but it's freezing up here.  Brrrr...

My heater in my office is fixed (yay!) and the heater at my apt. is now making funny noises.  I can't win! ;) But at least it's still putting out heat, so that's all I'm really concerned about.  I need to start making a list of everything I want/need to do in my apt.  Because right now my memory is really bad and I keep forgetting my ideas.  In one brain cell, out the other (yes, that implies I only have two), that's about how I feel.  Ok, knock on wood, it's been a very quiet Monday morning and hopefully it will stay as such.  Especially since Elkyn just called to say that he'll be running late because he's have apartment maintenance issues.  Is it something in the air?!?!?!  Anyways, back to work...

Ciao!

Hello all, I'm working hard on getting my internet connected at my apt. but it doesn't seem to be going very smoothly.  I kept forgetting to take the phone number with me to work, and when I finally did remember, the number is wrong and it's someone's fax line.
So I'm currently bound to using my computer at work.  So yeah, I go in a little early to get all my personal emailing/browsing/updating out of the way.  Unless it's an exceptionally slow day like today is turning out to be.  No complaints here, if it's busy it's usually because there are problems to be solved and situations to be dealt with.

So Hot Rod Circuit is playing at The Chance tonight in Poughkeepsie, but I'm opting out of it so I can spend some time with Joe.  (Read: Joe is more important than HRC... that's a big deal, not many can claim that priority)  But... it's actually a sweeter deal because I really miss Joe and want to see him, plus HRC is playing at the Ottobar in Baltimore the day after Thanksgiving.  Sweet!  So I'm making that a priority show to see, especially since they'll be at the same venue as the first time I saw them in concert.  Nice!  Nostalgia, nostalgia.

Anyways, adjusting to being in New York is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.  You never realize how quiet an apartment can be until it's 9:30 at night, you're wide awake, and you're all alone.  It's overwhelming at times, but as with everything, I'll be ok and I'll make it through.  LOL, I've watched Pride & Prejudice 3x, I'm almost finished knitting my scarf, and soon I'll be ready to start on the baby blanket I'll make for Jessica.  No, I'm still not finished unpacking, but I've found that unpacking reminds me that I'm not in Maryland anymore, reminds me how lonely I am, and therefore makes me sad.  So I can only unpack so much before I need to do something else to get my mind off of things.

Sherri is hopefully coming over sometime next week, which will be really cool even though my apartment will still be a mess I'm sure.  Once I get everything set up, I think I want to throw a party.  BYOB because I'm poor, but no one is allowed to get completely and utterly smashed.  I don't want vomit on my brand new carpet.  Oh, I laughed at myself the other day because I have tequilla and margarita mix at my apt., but no blender to crush the ice.  Oops. ;)

I'm back on AIM while I'm at work, and I've decided that it makes all the difference in the world when it comes to feeling connected to people.  So please feel free to IM me while I'm at work.  If I don't get right back to you, it's because I'm probably tracking down a student, helping Bill find his lost sticky notes, in a meeting with someone about something, etc. etc.  Leave me a message and I'll get back to you asap.

Well, that's it for now I think, but I'm sure I'll update soon.  Until then...

Ciao!
