| Saturday, 10/2/2004 I spent the entire day packing up my clothes and misc. items stored in my dresser drawers. I have way too much stuff. ;) Tonight I went to dinner and hung out with Barbara. Her cat is so rotten but he's cute. I really wish Barbara could come to NY with me, but she promised to come visit once her semester was over. I'm holding her to that promise. *grin* Now I'm finally trying the incredible German bier that Mary (Barb's mom) brought back for me. Koenig Ludwig Dunkel (King Ludwig Dark). Great stuff. Alright, time for bed... it's been a very long and tiring day. Oh yeah, my mom rocks because she button pleated the head liner in my car and vacuumed and dusted everything. By car looks soooo pretty! *super grin* Good night all! Ciao! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Friday, 10/1/2004 2 weeks have passed and no new journal entry... I'm a slacker, I know. ;) I'll start at the beginning. Dinner with Jessica and Jeff was fantastic! I've really missed them, and Jessica is so adorable being pregnant. I think it's going to be a determined, persistant baby girl... or at least that's what I'm casting my vote as. 3 more months and we'll know. Dinner with Megan was really awesome too, I've missed her a lot... and don't let her fool you, she's the busy one. *grin* Good luck with everything Megan, you'll do great! Saturday (13 days ago) Barbara and I hung out and rented Laws of Attraction, a very cute movie which I highly recommend if you're into chick flicks and feel goods, which I am so it was perfect. Good times all around. I've been putting in some hours at Star Sales because apparently they're very behind on some necessary paperwork. Now time for the really big big news... Wednesday I received a phone call offering me a position as the assistant to the director and chief engineer of the campus media center. What campus you might be asking? The State University of New York (S.U.N.Y.) in New Paltz! Yeah! The big news is I finally got a really great job and I'm moving to New York!! I'll be working with college students (which I absolutely LOVE), I'll be working in a higher education setting (which I also LOVE), and I get my own office with a window and a view!!! How much does that rock?! (rhetorical question, I already know the answer) Friday night (7 days ago) was Megan's 21st birthday party which was a lot of fun. And the food and cake were very good. Now Megan has more liquor than she'll know what to do with in a decade. Feel free to share ;) *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* It's probably good that we didn't play shot-glass checkers with shots because Barbara, Megan and I all would have been plastered. Especially me since I clearly stink at checkers. Megan might have won by "cheating" against Barbara, but she won fair and square against me. Saturday night Barbara and I surprised Megan by taking her to the Melting Pot in Columbia (yum, I love fondue) and we blind-folded her before we got there, which wasn't a problem until I accidentally ran Megan into a door. :( Sorry Megan, I really didn't mean to. But she was ok and the food made it all better. Then we went to Turner's in South Baltimore. I really like that place, but I want to check out Howl at the Moon sometime. We almost went but decided that our luck for finding random places had run out a long time ago. When the weekend was over I decided Megan drank way too little for it being her 21st birthday... but that she should be very glad we didn't go with Joe's idea for her birthday celebration. ;) Sunday, I went to Kenda and Virgil's house (they're Jessica's parents) and Jessica and Jeff came over. We spent most of the time outside since it was a beautiful day, took the dogs for a walk (and Jessica for a walk too, the baby was restless), and really enjoyed spending time with them. It was also so exciting because I got to feel Jessica's baby hiccup!! Yeah, I'm such a girl, but it was so awesome. We were sitting outside on the back deck, and suddenly Jessica said that she thought the baby had the hiccups because she felt it "kick", but it was too regular to be the baby kicking. So she asked if I wanted to feel, and I pushed lightly down on her stomach and felt the steady jump of hiccups. It was great! I've spent this past week shopping for a place to live in NY. I've one place in particular that I really want, so I put in an application and should hear something back on Monday. There's another place that's ok, that I could deal with, so if my fav falls through, I have a back up. There's two more places I want to look at when I go back to NY on Monday but I'm potentially one step away from signing a lease. Yay! It's so exciting, overwhelming, exhilarating, etc etc. I'm very happy about my "fresh start". So I drove back to MD today, I'll be here for the rest of the weekend, packing all my stuff, and trying to be prepared to move as soon as the apt. of choice is available. While I was in NY, I shopped during the day, and played poker at night. ;) I'm so pleased (read lucky) because Monday night I pushed out 4 people and took all their chips. But I got tired, lost my luck, and came in second. Tuesday night I totally stunk... 9 people playing, I was the first one out. It's all how the cards fall. Or as I said to Greg "It's all about luck, and then what you do with it." It's so much fun though, especially staring people down. "Do you think I'm bluffing?" Good times! ;) Besides, since I lost so quickly, I was able to call Barbara right back and chat for a little while. And then I caught up on my new Cosmo issue. And then I fell asleep in the living room chair because the 2 beers I had were just enough to relax me and make me sleepy. I'm gonna love New York. :) Alright, packing yes... sleep, eventually. Ciao! "I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly, Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye, Gotta take a risk, take a chance, Make a change, and break away. Out of the darkness and into the sun, But I won't forget all the ones that I love. I've gotta take a risk, take a chance, Make a change, and break away..." |
