| Wednesday, 9/8/2004 Mom gave me the best advice Monday... which was my "working" holiday btw. I spent no less than 12 straight hours job searching. And when I say "job searching", I mean scan postings, prepare cover letters, send emails, prepare professional-looking faxes, prepare snail-mail letters. fill out online profiles (those are the worst), and make sure that I have a hard copy of everything I do and that everything is noted and dated. Then I get to organize and file all that paper work. So that's how I spent my Labor Day holiday and I came to the disheartening realization (this is what I get for counting) that in the past 1.5 months alone I have applied for over 70 employment positions! And I still don't have a job! So I was feeling kinda down on myself on Monday, but my mom said (here it comes *drum roll*)... "Rome wasn't built in a day."!! Yeah, leave it to me to find encouragement from the most obvious statements. But it was equally as awesome to be reminded of how much my mom supports me, and believes in my ability to achieve my dreams. And she also pointed out how commendable it is that while I'm witing to find the right job, I'm willing to work at any job to make sure that my financial commitments are met. Now is when I point out how much of a compliment it is that my mom finds me responsible with regards to my supporting myself. So yeah, I love my mom!! :) Yesterday I was forced to come to terms with the fact that within the next 6 months I'll definitely have to buy a new car. It's getting to the point where I'm scared to depend on it too much because so many things have been breaking on it. And let's not even get into how nervous I can get while driving back and forth to New York! So yeah, I really think that it's going to be a new car too because I don't want to be handed someone else's car problems in a used car. Hehehe, as Barbara pointed out on Saturday night while we were hanging out (which was soooo much fun), no one can "afford" a new car, that's what loans are for. Well, that's all for now (and I'm running out of space to type in). Ciao! Friday, 9/3/2004 Well, the Star Sales job is pretty much over. The project I was working on is finished, and I was told that if they needed extra help for any additional projects, they would call me. But nothing yet, so I've shifted gears away from any kind of further expectations from them. The school year has started so I've begun looking for substitute jobs. The first ones were posted today, but I partied hearty last night and didn't get to bed until 3am, so there's no way I could have woken up at 7am and accepted a teaching position. But at least I know that it's starting. Nother has come through yet with the job interviews, but I have another next week, and I've received notifications of resumes being received. *fingers crossed* Soon I hope, I'm getting very antsy. I drove up to NY on Monday and came back yesterday afternoon. So I got to see Joe's new dorm room and townhouse, meet his new housemates, spend some quality time with him... it was definitely great. This semester is going to be very busy for him, but that's totally cool with me because he will have a kick-ass senior year! :) And I'm ok with not being able to spend a lot of time with him, because the times we spend together are great. We both understand and respect each other's need to have things we do apart. Everything is amazing! ;) Last night I hung out with Colin and had a blast. We met at Starbucks for coffee and talked about tons of stuff. It was really comforting to realize that I'm not quite so alone in my views and opinions about life and the society in which I live. We had some really great conversatons, serious and fun-loving, and I realized how much I mised being around him. Then his friend Seth stopped by to get some coffee, so the three of us started shooting the breeze, talking about school, sports, siblings, etc. Then we decided to head over to the sports bar/restaurant right there by Starbucks, and have a couple beers. We swopped drinking stories, sober stories about people doing stupid stuff, and had a lot of good laughs. Anyways, time glew by and before I realized it, it was 2:30am and definitely time to go home. Oh oh oh, if you haven't seen the season finale of Gilmore Girls, don't read this next part!! But OH MY GOSH!! Luke and Lorelei finally kissed!! I've only been waiting 2.5 years for this to happen in the series! It's about time!! And if they break up, I'm going to be severely displeased. I mean, it kinda stinks that Jason is the one who is getting screwed in all of this, he's a nice guy. But yeah, them's the breaks. (if you censored yourself, you can start reading now) Joe is so wonderful because he downloaded all the episodes from this past season so I could catch up. I finally watched the last 5 episodes this week while in NY, and yeah, Joe is just great for finding them, and holding onto them until I had the chance to watch them. *super grin* Now I'll wait with great anticipation for 2 weeks and 4 days until the new season starts. Ok, off to find something to get into trouble with... yeah right, I'm still bordering on goody-goody, even if I have my private wild side. *shock* *grin* Ciao!! Thursday, 9/2/2004 ...yeah, i'm bad, this is a tease... i'll write more later ;) |
