Home/Hospital

Instructional Services

The Home/Hospital Program is designed for Middle & High School students with doctor verification that they can not attend school. These students may also choose one of our other programs, if their needs can be better met in an alternate program. In the Home and Hospital Program the student meets with one or more teachers five hours a week at the student's home. A parent must be present at these meetings. The student may choose one of two options for their individualized program:

Students may choose to remain in their scheduled classes. They will be responsible for keeping up on class work and must be prepared to pass final exams in order to earn credit for each class. If the student requests to remain in scheduled classes, he/she would return to these same classes as soon as the doctor releases him/her to return.

Students may choose to earn credits with the Education Center curriculum and drop current classes. The student would then earn credit for satisfactorily completed work. The student may earn partial credit in classes because credits are earned by assignment. The home and hospital student would also be expected to remain in the Education Center curriculum until the end of the semester. The student would not return to the comprehensive high school even if the doctor has released him/her to return to school until the beginning of the next semester.
