Bob spent 32 years as a full-time teacher before retiring in 1992. The great bulk of that time was spent in teaching History, Civics and English alghough he also taught Ethnic Studies, Economics, Psychology, Journalism and Yearbook.
A veteran of both World War II and Korea, Bob believes that students learn in a direct relationship to what the teacher expects them to learn. Or, put another way, a student should rise to the teacher's level of expectations and the teacher has the job of keeping those expectations both reasonable and high enough to make the student work at meeting them.
In my heart, I'm a Barnstorming Pilot with over 1,000 hours flying in old antique ariplanes. I've been teaching for over 25 years and my success with students is based on finding out what is exciting and what motivates them. In China they have a saying that '...life begins again when you turn 50' . I think in my case that this is true.
