Stillman was suspicious and sent Pliskin to check out if there were any more C4's. By luck, he found some C4's that the 'sent detector' couldn't find. Peter then admitted he must have been fooled by Fatman, and that he would check it himself. He then confessed a lie he had lived for years. He did not lose his leg in the explosion he caused accidently, it was to shield himself from the families of the real victims, but only made him feel more guilty. Raiden went to disarm the other bombs, in the process, he heard Olga Gurlukavich talking, and he received a codec call from a Mr. X, just like Deepthroat on Shadow Moses (but it couldn't have been Grey Fox because he was dead). A proximity trigger on one of the 'effective' bombs left Stillman killed. Raiden then battled Fortune but once again, no bullets would hit her. Fatman then asked for Raiden to go up to the roof for a battle and started another bomb. Fortune and Vamp seemed to be unhappy about Fatman's plans, "He's lost sight of our ideals and his loyalty to Commander Jackson". It was apparent that Fatman seemed to be from a different place to the other terroists. He didn't even know about the ransom demands. Raiden defeated Fatman on the roof before meeting a Cyborg Ninja. The Ninja told him to make contact with a man named Ames, who knew the location of the President. He also told him that Metal Gear was housed at the Big Shell and that the terroists planned to fire a nuclear weapon. The Ninja gave Raiden a terroists' uniform before disappearing. The Ninja had claimed to be Mr. X. Raiden went to talk to Ames, who was one of the hostages. He revealed that there was no ransom of 30 billion dollars. The terroists wanted to liberate Manhattan with a nuclear blast to create an electromagnetic pulse. Also, the President had to login the code for Metal Gear of his own free will, because of security, meaning the President was co-operating with the terroists. Raiden then eavesdropped a conversation between Olga and two men, one of whom was Ocelot, the other was the leader who claimed to be Solid Snake. It was apparent that it was not Snake. Ocelot arrived, telling Ames that he'd failed his duties. The words "la-le-lu-li-lo" were mentioned by Ames. He then appeared to die of a heart attack. Thanks to the Ninja, Raiden was able to escape. He then had to get to Shell 2, while Pliskin boarded a Kasatka helicopter. He introduced Raiden to Otacon, who was with Pliskin all along. However the Colonel and Rose still insisted that Snake was dead. Suddenly the boss, 'Solid Snake' confronted Raiden. He introduced him as 'Solid Snake'. However Pliskin then shouted "NO THAT IS NOT SOLID SNAKE!" The terroist leader's real name was Solidus. He then called Pliskin 'brother' and 'Snake'. It was apparent that Pliskin was the real Solid Snake all along and was not the one behind the terroist attack. Solidus then jumped into a Harrier 2 plane, with Vamp as the pilot. Snake had to battle the Harrier in his helicopter, but did not stand much of a chance so Raiden had to shoot it down with Stinger Missiles. The Harrier crashed and Solidus' eye was badly damaged. Vamp escaped, and the helicopter was badly damaged. But Raiden had seen Metal Gear already active. Snake finally told Raiden the truth about his identity. Otacon had a boat ready for Snake two years ago and then they continued their anti-Metal Gear activities in secret. The Colonel told Raiden not to trust Snake because he was 'not included in the simulation'. Raiden had no idea what he meant by this. Raiden successfully reached the President, who admitted to working with Solidus earlier but not now. He put the code in himself because he wanted power. The Presidents had no real power at all, there was no such thing as congree, or parties or even democracy in America. The real power was in the hands of the Patriots, who credited their polices to the Presidents. There were twelve of them but no-one really knew who they really were. President Johnson wanted to join them but Solidus preferred rebellion. He wanted to challenge the Patriots, risking political and global chaos. Solidus was in fact Johnson's predecessor George Sears and was an older clone of Solid and Liquid Snake. A direct clone of Big Boss with no alterations. That he was fired by the Patriots for starting the Shadow Moses incedent and by sending Revolver Ocelot to pose as Liquid's right hand man to obtain the data on Rex. As a result, he revealed the existance of Rex, and the genome army to the public, which is not what the Patriots wanted. The President knew that he had to be alive for the next ID check and told Raiden to find Emma Emmerich, who was involved in making Aresnal Gear. What Raiden saw was Metal Gear Ray, hyhjacked from the tanker by Ocelot. The Big Shell was a cover up of Metal Gear and wasn't a cleanup facility. It was a way of preserving control and censoring the net. The President then told Raiden to kill him to prevent a nuclear strike. Raiden did not need to, for Ocelot appeared and shot the President. This surprised Snake and Raiden, for they had lost their nuclear strike capability. Snake and Otacon then revealed to Raiden what happened on the tanler two years before, where Ocelot sank the tanker, stole RAY and said he was taking it back. Ocelot cannot have been working for Solidus because he was in hiding after being fired (the Patriots had planned to have him killed). Ocelot had to have been working for the Patriots. Raiden went to go and rescue E.E, Otacon's sister, however a call from Otacon revealed that she cannot swim. 10 years before, she nearly drowned in an accident, she called Otacon for help, but he didn't hear. He ran away from Emma after the accident, his father did not survive the accident, but Emma did. Raiden found Vamp, who explained that there was a Purified Hydrogen Bomb, meaning a nuclear strike still was possible. Raiden rescued Emma and they tried to escape the Big Shell. However, Emma was tragically stabbed by Vamp. The virus disk was inserted by Snake but the count stopped at 90%. Emma said some last words to her brother and died. Otacon then left to take the hostages to Manhattan by helicopter. The Ninja then appeared and knocked Raiden unconcious, revealing it to have been Olga. It was just a plan by Snake and Olga to get into Arsenal Gear. Solidus revealed to Raiden that he was his godfather, who raised him as a soldier, but Jack had run away from him. (One note, Jack is Raiden). Olga revealed that she was being used for the S3 plan and so was Raiden. What was the S3 plan? Raiden then was freed by Olga and he found Snake. However the Colonel was behaving really strangely. Rose then confessed that she was a Patriots spy for two years, spying on Raiden, then Otacon and Snake told him that the Colonel didn't exsist, it was and AI, his creation in the brain to resemble Roy Campbell. It seemed that everything Raiden had done was an illusion. Raiden got his gear back and went with Snake. The two went north to fight Solidus and his men. After sucessfully eliminating the soldiers, Snake was challenged by Fortune, who believed Snake killed her father, Marine Commander Scott Dolph. Snake remained behind to fight fortune but bullets could still not hit her. Raiden fought several Metal Gear Rays controlled by Solidus, before the virus finally took effect and destroyed Arsenal. Fortune appeared with a handcuffed Snake. Then Ocelot admitted that the whole thing was scripted. S3 stood for Solid Snake Simulation, and it was an orgistrated recreation of Shadow Moses, hence the virus = FOXDIE, Ames and the Presidents deaths and the Ninja. The tanker accident, Raiden being spied on, Solidus' terroist incident, Dead Cell's rampage, it was all an exercise set up by the Patriots. Ocelot then shot Fortune and hyjacked Ray, before turning into Liquid again. Liquid headed for the Patriots but Snake jumped onto Ray and but a transmitting bug onto it. Arsenal crashed into Manhattan, where Solidus told Raiden his objective was to liberate the country. Then the "Colonel and Rose" contacted Raiden. Really, it was formless representatives of the Patriots, who said everyone abused their own freedom and that they must create context. S3 stood for Selection for Societal Sanity. It was to control human thought and behaviour. The results were a success except for the destruction of GW and the arrival of the real Solid Snake. Raiden had to fight Solidus in order to save Olga's child and the real Rose, who were being held captive by the Patriots. Solidus was killed and Snake then appeared, telling Raiden to make his own decisions about his feelings in life and what to pass on. The real Rose appeared, who was pregnant with Jack's child. Meanwhile, Snake and Otacon checked the real Patriots' disk but, all twelve of them appeared to have died about 100 years ago. What's more, one of them was a Philanphropy member. And so, the story must continue........
