REY ADEL'S
SHORT STORY
"TEARS AT SUNSET"

"Do you love me?"

"It's not that I don't love you. I adore you, Tom . . . But . . ." At least that's one truth, she thought while withdrawing her hand.

"Hush, no more buts. You've answered my question. And that's all I wanted." He could have added "For now." but decided against it.

She touched his hand, wanting to say the words.

Tom placed his finger on her lips discouraging the unspoken words. He kissed her lips with care.

They both fell silent. No word was uttered betweem them for they let their eyes do the talking. Love was in their midst. Truths were said, but not all of it, Marie thought.

"Someday, Tom. Someday . . ." She hoped.

"Don't speak of someday, Marie. This is today."

That day, it began.
