“Faith Without Discrimination”
We at Open Doors Christian Communities believe that the Gospel of Jesus is Good News for all people, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, background, race, or any other label society might place on them. Jesus says “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). We believe that Jesus does not judge us based on such outward traits and does not hold our past against us, but has opened wide the doors to salvation for all who will reach out to Him in faith. “I am the gate;” he says, “whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture” (John 10:9).
We believe that the Scriptures were never intended to be instruments of prejudice, discrimination, or hate, but are God’s love letter to all of us proclaiming a hope and a future for all God’s children. We believe the Holy Spirit calls each of us to a life of setting others free from the bondage of self-hatred, spiritual abuse, and prejudice (Luke 4:18-19).
Your interest in serving in our ministry is a first step in an exciting journey of ministry, a journey of reaching out to the many who believe that God has shut the doors to the full and meaningful life that Jesus says he brings. You have before you many lives waiting to be touched by the love of God, many people waiting to have the shackles of self-hate and self-rejection fall off. You also have before you many others whose eyes have been blinded by scales of prejudice and discrimination and who will experience their eyes being opened to the beauty of God’s image found in all God’s children through your ministry.
