Who We Are
Open Door Christian Communities is a church-planting ministry and ministry association which focuses on helping develop and strengthen Gospel-centered ministries which do not discriminate against people based on race, sexual orientation, gender, social status, disability, or any other earthly label. When our mission statement below talks about being “socially and theologically progressive”, that's just a fancy way of saying that we sponsor and support ministries which don't discriminate. All fancy language aside, first and foremost, we at Open Door Christian Communities are just people. Ordinary people. People from all walks of life. People who believe strongly in the loving God revealed by Jesus Christ. People who believe just as fervently that to God there are no favorites. People who believe discrimination and prejudice have no place in the family of God.
Our Mission:
Our mission is (1) to plant and provide support for Spirit-filled, Christ-centered & Gospel-focused churches and ministries that are socially & theologically progressive, with a focus on outreach & liberating social action and (2) to act as an educational resource for the community on issues related to civil rights and reconciliation for individuals affected by prejudice based on race, sexual orientation, gender, disabilities, and other extrinsic qualities.
Our vision:
Working together, we will build countless communities of love, faith, and hope open to all people, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, life history, or any human label. These will be communities that live out the teachings of Jesus in practical ways, while remaining open to the Holy Spirit living in and through them. These communities will lead people into lives of outreach and service in the community, speaking up for justice and for God’s message of grace. Through their members, people far from God will be brought back into relationships with God and those hurting and oppressed will find freedom, healing, and strength. These communities will transform those around them, helping change the climate of the neighborhoods and towns where they work for God.
