This was done to give the churches a sense of belonging and to draw the converts into the church. It was the pattern we used on our first visit to the place and the pastor reported that the idea worked well. Some of the recipients of the clothes were widowed and orphaned. We observed that most of the people who received these materials were visibly happy and danced gracefully to express their happiness. 5. Bicycles: One bicycle was given to the Anglican pastor who showed the highest interest in the crusade. He mobilized his members, encouraged a team work, and remained present in the whole exercise. At the end of the outreach, the team consulted among themselves and decided to give him the only bicycle donated by a brother in Nnewi. 6. THE CONVERTS : Evang. Kelvin Nwafor reported that after the outreach, a female sorcerer who is at the head of organized spiritual wickedness in town, wept bitterly and complained that the crusaders had driven away her mother. When asked who her mother was, she explained that it was the "Ezenwanyi" (the queen mother of the spirits), which lives in the water, the spirit of whom she contacted from her youth, and has since then served. She said, since after the crusade she had killed 7 goats to invite the spirit mother back, but the mother told her that she could not return because the preachers warned her not to return, besides, they placed an angel who now protects the city against her. This testimony caused a stir in the community because the woman told it to whoever cared. At the final count the reports by church records are as follows: 1. Deeper Life Bible Church formerly 36 people, after the crusade, over 90. 2. Save The Lost formerly 70 people, after the crusade, close to 170 people. 3. Gospel Faith Mission formerly 26 people, after crusade, close to 70 people. 4. Anglican Church formerly 150 people, after crusade, 400 people. 5. Catholic Church formerly 18, after crusade, over 36 people. There were other minor churches also. Our monitoring team reports that though the tempo had died down, but those who started going to churches a result of the crusade still do so. 2. KOMA FIELD: Brother Mathias Obinwa was one of the first missionaries that went Koma in 1981. He later left Koma and took a pastoral assignment with the Redeemed People's Mission which is the Headquarters at Jos. After about 13 years, his wife died of a mysterious circumstance that left him confused. In a sober mood after this event, God spoke to him to return back to Koma; and he did. In 1999, he linked up with our organisation, "Recuers Mission Agency". Through him, we have made a reasonable incursion into the Koma land. Today he lives in Komni in Koma Land and from there he makes periodical circuit of these five villages: Onli Mountain, Tunshiini, Parigi, Suli, Banasara, and Gbagi villages. These villages are on the top of a mountain. His effort compliments that of missionary crusaders ministry who are based at Wari, Parigi, and Suli and Luthern Church, both of which have strong presence in Koma Land. Brother Mathias by God's grace has reinvigorated the work in Koma Land that the elders of Lutheran Church in all villages literally knelt down begging us to allow him to visit them every day to teach them. One Luthern Church Catechist confided on the President of Rescuers Mission Agency and tested that if not for the presence of Brother Mathias, Moslems would have destroyed the work of previous missionaries in Koma Land, precisely at Komni. |
