DOCUMENTATION OF THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS The main purpose for this website is to design a
website for my uncle small business which is selling
handmade clothes, such as jeans trousers, hats, tops and
t-shirts, belts, African wears, and other clothing
items. He wants to start allowing his customers to
customize and purchase their clothing items Online and
have them shipped it to their desired locations. The
target audience for this website would be anyone who
loves handmade and African clothing. The target audience
is going to be 6 years old and above. That's where we
can start from for now. Then as time goes on we produce
for all ages. The steps that I will be taking to create
my uncle's website and to ensure that it meets my
objectives is to use my experience I got from this class
to develop an HTML and CSS website that will be clean,
professional, and visually appealing to my uncle's
customers.
DEFENSE OF THE FINAL PRODUCT
My uncle's business website is going to be very simple
but in a form of hierarchical structure. I chose a
hierarchical theme because it organizes the information
on the website making information on the website very
simple. Since the website is going to feature many
products and information, the hierarchical structure
will make more sense since it will be organized and
visitors will have the ability to navigate easily. Also,
most retail websites mostly use this type of theme
because it is straightforward for potential customers.
Since I want my uncle's website to be simple, the
primary background color will be white, which can take
almost every color. Even though my uncle's business logo
has like four colors, the primary text will be deep gray
while the link will be dark red. I chose dark gray and
deep red because it will provide a good contrast with
the white background and the text easily readable by
users. A simple color palette is much more legible and
easy for end users to read and understand. For the
typography, I am using Arial font for the body and
Tahoma font for the headlines. These two types of fonts
are very common and easy for users to read and
understand. I also believe that it looks very
professional and going to give the website a clean look.
There is a need to differentiate between the headline
typeface and body typeface so that users will be able to
distinguish between the two because some things are more
important on pages than others.
DEFENSE OF THE FINAL PRODUCT
The plan is to be a global website like Amazon and eBay
so we will move to a bigger platform or use A content
management system that will make the management of the
website very easy to manage. Adding more products means
adding more images and video which is a part of the
future plans. If I had more time or resources, I would
have embedded JavaScript and added more CSS language to
make the website more professional. The future update is
going to be easy and fun because the website has been
already built, so there will just add-ons like Java,
Flash and video to make the website look more rich and
professional. Once again the plan is to be like a global
website that everyone will be talking about.
