Tips for Choosing Child Care
1.  Think about your needs.
What size and type of care will be the best for my child?
Which location would be the most convenient?
Do I want all of my children at the same provider?
Which provider meets the needs of my family?
How much can I afford for child care?

2.
Call the provider and ask for information.
What kinds of activities do they offer?
How long have they been in business?
What child care training have they had?
How many children do they care for?
     Are references available?

3.
Schedule an interview with the provider.
Make an appointment to visit the provider at a time when children are present and involved in activities.
Take your checklist to the interview and make notes.
If necessary, follow up with a second, unscheduled visit.
     Call references.
Remember, it is your right and responsibility to choose
quality child care.
