During my stay in Bellville, a canoe enthusiast taught me this craft and I manufactured several products privately for extra income

Carpentry

During my stay in Bellville, a qualified carpenter taught me this craft and I manufactured several furniture pieces privately for extra income.

Arc and Gas Welding

As Stock Controller, I was also in charge of the Salvage Yard, where steel products were manufactured and renovated. The artisans taught me all the tricks of these occupations.

While working for Freddies Minerals, it was expected of me to be an all rounder technician as well. Because of my interest in technical matters, I quickly learned the “how to” and even turned out big driving axels for ball mills from raw round shafting and fitting the gears over those shafts.

Erection of Mine Ore Production Plant, Water Reticulation and Electrification

Freddies Minerals – I personally completed the electrification with 3 phase power from Escom.

Building construction, Electrification and Water Reticulation

As private contractor I erected several buildings, chalets and a conference centre, including the water reticulation from huge distances, plumbing, sewerage and three and single phase electrification. Also erected about 200 km of fencing for the Toll Gate companies.

Gardening maintenance and cleaning of houses, flats and offices

As private contractor to the mines in Phalaborwa, I privately studied these subject matters, designed several courses on the use and maintenance of lawn mowers, bush cutters and chain saws and am also busy designing a course in all aspects of gardening for our own employees. I have trained several technicians of other companies in the use and maintenance of all types of lawn mowers, bush cutters and chain saws.
