Portal Asrire

In a carpeted valley of soft green and cold, a wayward young breeze blows, spreading the cold. It runs up a hillside and swirls through the grass, then flies over rivers; spreads ripples in glass. It curls around objects of all shapes and forms, and comes finally to rest at an asrire's horn.

The beautiful creature of violet and teal flips up her mane when the wind she does feel. The silky blue hairs fly up in the wind, then fall forward and down, till her eyes they have rimmed.

With the clank of her bracelets and click of her hooves, you can hear the mare crossing the riverstones that mark the edge of the valley's running water. Looking up eagerly, a little shyly, you watch her come nearer before waving a small hello from your position on a rock. "Hey," you call down uncertainly.

Stopping, the mare stares up at you, squinting to see more than your silhouette against the mountain sunset behind you. "Hello," she calls back, surprised. "What're you doing up there?"

"Um... I was just looking around," you say, gesturing to the twilight beauty all around you. "You live in a beautiful valley."

"I do," she replies. "I'm Crystal Wind, by the way. This is the valley my birth Tarsuinn was thinking of using before they chose more open territory. I like it, though, and my father - Pastel Fortune - said it suited me, so that was that. Mine now. Not that I won't share, of course... I love company here." The mare gets an almost wistful look as she turns her head to look toward what you know to be Tarsuinn territory. Even that small movement of hers looks graceful and sweet. The way her hair flutters and flows through the wind makes her name fit her perfectly.

"Do you get much company here?" you ask. "It's a beautiful place, but it seems kind of only. I don't hear very many birds or anything."

Crystal shakes her head and makes a face. "Nope; all my Tarsuinn-brothers and sisters went off to live with each other. Well, most of them. I didn't want to go live with my three brothers, though - it would be too crowded, and too violent. My sister... Well, let's say I'm not welcome there. She's..." Crystal gives an uncomfortable look at you, then discontinues her sentence. "Well, anyway, I'm here all alone. Perhaps if I have another sister, she can come live with me here."

"Sorry," you offer for her unfortunate predicament. "Well, if nothing else, there are smaller species to associate with... Right?"

Crystal Wind smiles. "Of course," she says as she turns to gaze at the sunset, which is now fading to darker red-bronze colors. "I hafta go on now, sorry... I like to get back before dark, if I can. Will I be seeing you again?"

You don't hesitate in your reply. "Hopefully!" you say. "Who knows - maybe things will be different next time I come." Watching her resume her trail from riverside rock to grass, you call out, "Bye!"

The mare looks back and smiles, before heading on once more.
