Part 10
Kira stared at the screen. The muse was slow in waking up this morning. She sat back and thought a bit. I want to tell them about what happened that night. It was funny in a warped sort of way…but how to start? She let her mind wander back to that night.
********************************
They had gone into the apartment and gotten into dry clothes. Kira could hear Tanya moving around upstairs and knew from experience that she had seen everything that had taken place out in the yard.
“Morgan…I’m going to have to call Tanya. She’s blowing a gasket up there I’m sure.” she said a bit hesitantly.
“I kind of figured you would.” Morgan had a thought. She grinned. “Why don’t you invite her down here?”
Kira couldn’t believe what she had just heard. “Excuse me? What did you say?”
“I said invite her down here…to meet me.” Morgan chuckled. “You said she was ‘worried’ about you with me, so why not put her fears to rest?” Let her just come down here and see the way the two of us look at each other. That should shut her up and get her off Kira’s back.
“Are you sure about this Morgan. Tanya can be….I don’t know quite how to put this….pushy?”
“Call her and get her down here. We’ll see just how pushy she is.” She better not get too damn pushy or we’re going to have a problem.
“Ok but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Kira said as she reached for the phone. She dialed Tanya’s number.
It rang three times before Tanya finally picked up. “Hey….I’m back.”
“Yeah so I saw.” Tanya said. “I see you brought company with you. That her?”
“Yeah….that’s Morgan.” Kira said slowly. She didn’t know what to expect from the woman. “Um…we were wondering if you’d like to come down and visit for a bit?” She shot a look at Morgan and smiled. “Morgan would like to meet you.”
Morgan rolled her eyes. I’d like to wring her neck is more like it.
“She wants to meet me does she. Well I’d like to meet her too. I want to meet the woman you’re so crazy in love with.” she said sarcastically.
Kira sighed. I don’t know if this is such a good idea. “Well come on down whenever you’d like. We’ll be here ok?”
“I’ll be right down.” was the quick reply. The phone in Kira’s hand went dead and she could hear Tanya moving to her front door.
“She’s on her way down.” Kira said quietly.
Morgan had taken up residence on Kira’s couch. She was stretched out comfortably. She saw the worry on Kira’s face. “C’mere.” she said as she held out her arms.
Kira walked over to the couch and let herself fall into Morgan’s embrace. “It’ll be fine. I’ll behave.” Morgan whispered with a smile. “I won’t kill her or anything….I promise.”
Morgan felt the smaller woman’s body shake with laughter. Kira raised her head and looked Morgan dead in the eye. “No killing, no maiming, no damaging of body parts whatsoever?” she said with a raised eyebrow.
“Nope…..but I can’t promise that I’ll keep my hands off YOU!“ she said with a wry grin.
“Oh boy…this is going to get interesting.” She planted a soft kiss on Morgan’s lips.
They were interrupted by a knock on the door. Morgan felt Kira’s body go tense. “Who is it?” Morgan yelled playfully at the door.
Kira leaned over and put her mouth by Morgan’s ear. “You’re so bad!” she giggled.
“I know….that’s why you love me and find me so damn irresistible.” Morgan whispered back.
“You guys gonna answer the door or what?” Tanya yelled through the door.
“I’m coming. Hold your horses.” Kira got up and went to the door. She was a little nervous. I hope this goes alright. She took a deep breath and opened the door.
Tanya burst into the apartment. “Come on in Tanya…” Kira mumbled.
Tanya turned so that she was facing Morgan, who was still comfortably relaxing on the couch. Well I have to give Kira credit. She’s gorgeous….and she wasn’t kidding about those eyes. Wow! Tanya stuck out her hand. “I’m Tanya.”
Morgan lazily turned so that she was in a normal sitting position and slowly stood up, letting Tanya take in her full, often intimidating, height. I shouldn’t be doing this….nope….but I’m gonna anyway. She flashed Tanya a smile. “Hi. I’m Morgan. Nice to meet you.” she said quietly as she shook Tanya’s outstretched hand.
Whoa! She didn’t look that tall on the couch. “Um…I live upstairs.” Tanya stuttered.
Kira decided that now would be a good time for her to step in. “Why don’t we all sit down.” she offered.
“Yeah, I think that’s a good idea.” Morgan agreed. She took up her original place on the couch. “C’mere.” she said to Kira. “I got your spot right here.” she said with a grin as she patted the open space next to her.
Kira rolled her eyes playfully at her mischievous partner. She gave her a look that said ‘I’m gonna get you for this later’ as she sat down.
Tanya wasn’t sure what to do. She watched the couple interact. I hate to admit it, but they do seem like they’ve been together forever. They seem so at ease with each other. Hmmm…interesting.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Kira. “It’s a big couch Tanya. C’mon have a seat.”
Tanya sat down. “How was the drive?” she asked casually. “The weather out there is awful isn’t it?”

They had been talking for a good hour when Kira decided it was time to drop the bomb. “Tanya….I….I mean…we have something we need to tell you.”
Tanya caught the look that had quickly passed between the two lovers. I’m not going to like this am I? “Oh yeah?” she asked.
“Yeah…” Kira started. “Well see….I’m not….Morgan’s not here just for a visit….Well she is…but that’s not the only reason she’s here.” she finally managed to get out.
Tanya saw no reason to beat around the bush. This was big and she knew it. “What’s the other reason?”
“Well….um….” This seemed a lot easier when I rehearsed it in my head. Tell her Kira. “I’m moving to Indiana.” she blurted out. She felt Morgan wrap her arms around her and give her a gentle squeeze.
Tanya sat stunned. She didn’t know what to say. “You’re…moving?”
Kira leaned back and let the connection she felt with Morgan soak in. She needed it more than ever right now. “Um…Yeah. I’ll be arranging for a truck tomorrow…we’re…um…gonna load it up…and then I’ll be….” she trailed off.
“Wait a minute…” Tanya needed to let the information sink in. “You’re moving….now?”
“Um….yeah.” Kira said simply. “We would like to back on the road by Saturday at the latest.”
Silence filled the room. Tanya sat and stared at the couple. Morgan had leaned back and had wrapped her arms around Kira’s waist. Kira was laying back slightly, had her fingers entangled in Morgan’s, and was resting her head on Morgan’s chest, just under her chin. Two pairs of eyes stared back at her, waiting for a response.
“I don’t know what to say…” Tanya started. “I mean…are you two sure about this? You haven’t known each other very long….”
“We’re sure.” both Morgan and Kira answered in unison. “Very sure.” They both laughed.
Tanya looked at them again. “Well….I should be angry. Angry at you Kira, for leaving…and angry with you Morgan for…” Tanya sighed and stared down at her hands. “stealing her away.” she finished quietly.
Kira gave Morgan a slight pat. Morgan understood. She released her hold around Kira’s waist as Kira moved forward.
Kira laid a hand on Tanya’s leg. “It’s not like I’m disappearing Tanya. I’m only moving a few states away….and I’m sure you’ve heard of that invention….what do they call it….Oh yeah, the telephone.”
“It’s not the same….and you know it.” Tanya complained.
“Well…you’re always saying how you want to get away…” She glanced at Morgan. Morgan nodded. “You could always come visit us.”
Tanya looked up and straight into Morgan’s eyes. “You wouldn’t have a problem with that?” It was almost a challenge.
Morgan met Tanya’s gaze calmly. “I don’t have a problem with that if Kira doesn’t.” she replied evenly.
Tanya could see trouble brewing in the sharp blue eyes that were staring at her. Tanya wasn’t worried. She made a quick decision. Part of me hopes I’m really wrong. Guess we’re gonna find out.
“Cool!” Tanya said warmly. “As much as I hate to see you leave, it will be fun visiting you guys.” She smiled. “You two have really got it bad dontcha?”
Morgan smiled back at her but was wary. She’s up to something….I can feel it. “Yeah…you could say that.” She pulled Kira back into her embrace.
Kira laughed as she breathed in a sigh of relief. That went better than I thought it would. She hadn’t seen the looks that had passed between her former lover and her current one. She settled back into Morgan’s waiting arms.
“I’m very happy Tanya. More than you know.” Kira said quietly.
“You sure seem to be.” Tanya admitted grudgingly. We’ll see if it lasts though won’t we? “Well, I’m going to leave you two lovebirds alone for the rest of the evening.” She deliberately reached over and patted Morgan’s leg. “Take care of her now,” she playfully warned. “Or you’ll have to deal with me.” She finished by giving the muscular leg beneath her hand a squeeze.
Morgan let her eyes follow Tanya’s hand. She looked up and met Tanya’s gaze. “We’ll be fine Tanya. Just fine.” she said with a wry grin. She planted a kiss on the top of Kira’s head. “Won’t we hon?”
Kira, blissfully unaware of the sudden tension, agreed. “We’re going to be wonderful.” she let out a contented sigh.
Tanya got up off the couch. “Well I’m off…” She headed for the door, but not before giving Morgan’s shoulder a gentle squeeze. “Don’t keep her up all night now.” she teased.
Morgan glared at her with icy blue eyes. Back off Tanya…if you know what’s good for you. “Oh don’t worry Tanya….I won’t keep her up ALL night.” she drawled.
Tanya would not be intimidated. “Ok….let me rephrase that then.” she said with an amused grin. “Don’t keep ME up all night.” She dared a wink. She stepped quickly to the door. “’Night you two.” She escaped out the door.
“Well, that was certainly interesting.” Kira commented lightly.
“Interesting isn’t quite the word I’d give it.” Morgan mumbled.
*****************************
Kira smiled as she shook her head. Gods I was blind wasn’t I? I still can’t believe Tanya flirted with her right in front of me and I missed it. She chuckled. That’s ok though….because Morgan had a plan of her own for getting even. Kira was still giggling over the memory as she put her fingers to work on the keyboard.
*****************************
They were ready for bed. It had been a long day and both women were exhausted. “Gods! I can’t remember the last time I was this tired.” Kira was complaining.
“Me either.” Morgan said tiredly.
“I’m glad things went so well with Tanya though,” Kira stated. “I kept waiting for the explosion.” She turned down the covers on the bed and was getting ready to crawl in. “You coming?” she asked Morgan playfully.
“Not yet.” Morgan deadpanned. “but I’m sure it can be arranged.”
Kira busted a gut laughing. “Well it won’t be accomplished with you standing there now will it?” she teased.
Morgan had that look in her eye. Oh oh. What’s she up to?
“Do you have a broom?” Morgan wanted to know.
“A broom?” Kira asked with a confused look on her face. “Morgan….what do you need a broom for?”
Morgan could hear Tanya upstairs. She smirked and pointed up.
Kira giggled. “Ohhhh no!” She shook her head. “You’re not going to….Are you?”
“Where’s the broom?” Morgan demanded with a wicked grin.
“In the closet in the living room.” Kira responded through more giggles.
Morgan left the room and promptly returned, broom in hand. She looked and Kira and winked. “You ready?”
Kira was already laughing so hard she couldn’t respond.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” Morgan was laughing quietly herself. She flipped the broom upside down and climbed up on the bed. “She’ll be able to hear me better this way.”
“Hear you better?”
“Yeah. Watch this.” Morgan gave the ceiling above her several gentle taps with the broom.
Kira was rolling around on the bed trying to hold the laughter in.
Morgan gazed down at her amused partner. “I’m not done yet.” she winked again. Morgan then proceeded to moan. Loudly. Several times.
“Oh my God!!!!” Kira shrieked. The tears flowed from her eyes. “You are too much.” she said between hysterical fits of laughter.
Morgan bumped the ceiling again, a little harder this time. She had noticed that Tanya’s apartment had grown eerily silent. Morgan looked down at Kira. “Say oh my God again, real loud.“ Kira wanted to comply but she was laughing too damn hard. “I can’t.“ she managed to wheeze out.
Morgan shrugged. “Oh yessssss baby!” she moaned delightfully.
Kira was losing it. “Shhhh!” Morgan put a finger to her lips. “You’re spoiling the effect here. We’re supposed to be in the throes of passion and you’re laughing your butt off.” she teased gently.
“Stop it you clown.” Kira mumbled between giggles. She reached up and tried to grab hold of Morgan’s shirt. She was still laughing so hard it was hard to get a grip. She missed several times before finally latching on. “C’mere you goof!”
Morgan felt Kira tugging on her shirt. “Hang on. One more time.” She grinned an evil grin. “OOOOOOhhhhhhh yesssssssssss!” she moaned loudly to the ceiling while giving it some more bumps with the broom. Finally satisfied with her little performance, she hopped down off the bed and tucked the broom into the corner. “There!” she said triumphantly. “I think I’m ready to go to sleep now.” She was laughing as she dived into the bed and trapped a still giggling Kira under her.
Finally, the laughter simmered down. Morgan reached up and brushed a stray lock of golden hair out of Kira’s watery eyes. “That was fun.” she said tenderly. “Should I do it again?” She made a pretense of getting up.
Kira locked her arms around Morgan’s body. “Don’t you dare!” she smiled. “Once was bad enough.”
Morgan smiled back at her. “Yeah.” she admitted. “That was pretty bad wasn’t it?” She chuckled.
“Yeah it was,” Kira said in mock annoyance then she grinned ear to ear. “But I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!”
The pair grew quiet as they were caught up in each others eyes. Kira caressed Morgan’s cheek. “Gods I love you.” she said quietly.
“I love you too.” Morgan whispered back. She gazed into Kira’s shining green eyes. She leaned in and captured Kira’s soft lips and gave her a searing, smoldering kiss.
“Thought you were tired?” Kira taunted.
“Not that tired.” she responded. “Besides, I seem to recall you asking me if I was coming. I replied not yet….but I’m sure it can be arranged.” She smiled. “I’m arranging it.” she said innocently.
“Well by all means, don’t let me stop you then.” Kira mumbled into Morgan’s waiting lips.

Morgan was laying on her back. Kira was snuggled up against her side, her head resting comfortably on Morgan’s chest. She felt Kira’s body shake.
“What’s so funny?” Morgan wanted to know.
“I……I don’t think the broom was really necessary do you?” Kira was really laughing now.
Morgan blushed. “I guess not.” she grinned sheepishly.
“I always wondered if my headboard would make noise.” She teased.
Morgan rolled her eyes as she turned an even deeper shade of red. “Go to sleep!” she ordered. “We’ve got a busy day tomorrow.”
Kira snuggled in closer and with one last giggle, she drifted off.
Morgan looked up at the ceiling. Pleasant dreams. It was her last coherent thought before sleep claimed her as well.
*******************************
Kira would never forget that night as long as she lived. I still can’t believe she did that. Too funny. She didn’t get too much time to think about it for other memories were clamoring for her attention.
She moved on to thinking about what had happened the following day. It still seemed like a dream. It had all happened so damn fast. Maybe too fast.
I had a lot of fun with this little bit. Hope you did too. If so, wanna drop me a line and let me know???
Thanks again for reading!!!!
