SIDE NOTE: If you can’t handle two women that are in love, don’t read any further.

DEDICATION: I’d like to dedicate this story to the one who inspired it. As much as I have told her so….I still don’t think she truly believes the impact she has made on my life. Maybe this story will convince her.

Hon, I will love you forever.

The Beginning......

Seven words. Who knew seven words could change a person in such a dramatic and fantastic way? So many things were running through her mind. She couldn’t believe where she was, who she was staring at. Does she like me? What is she thinking? Why is she smiling? Is that smile for me? Kira had so many emotions flowing through her at the moment she didn’t know what to do. Finally, she put down her bags…..walked over….and gave the person smiling at her a hug. It was all she could muster not to start crying when the hug was returned and she heard a whisper…..”I can’t believe you’re really here….I’m so happy you came.”

It had all started a month ago. In a chat room, of all places. Kira had just recently broken up with someone who she thought might have been the love of her life. She couldn’t have been more wrong. Tanya was her upstairs neighbor and had also been her first female relationship….if you could call it that. They had been seeing each other for a few months, but Tanya didn’t want a “relationship.” Finally Kira realized that she had to move on, and she was bound and determined to do just that. She wasn’t sure yet, at this point, if she wanted to move onto another woman or stick with what she knew…men.

**********************

Kira was bored…..she was online and didn’t know what she wanted to do. Nothing was holding her interest. She decided, just for the hell of it, to go into a chat room. She clicked on the list of rooms and debated with herself. Which one? She hemmed and hawed but finally made her decision. This one....why not? She clicked the button and was soon in the room. She sat back and watched for a few moments. “Oh great!” she said out loud to herself. “Another room full of nothing but young kids looking to cyber.” She didn’t know what kept her there, but she found herself typing: Is there anyone over 30 in here? She hadn’t really expected an answer….when all of a sudden a noise startled her. She had an instant message. OK….here we go She opened the message and much to her surprise she read the words…..I’m over 30.

Should I reply? Kira thought. Oh well it can’t hurt right? She typed hello….and got a hello in return. The two of them began chatting. Simply at first, then going into more detail about themselves. Kira learned that the person behind the words on her screen had a name. Morgan. She was from Indiana. She too, had just recently broken up with her girlfriend and was looking to make some new friends. Both of them had a good laugh over the fact that that neither one of them frequented chat rooms, and had both been ready to leave the rooms just before Kira had typed in her message. Morgan told her flat out that she wasn’t sure she should respond but now was glad she had. Kira felt the same way. Their conversation continued. They learned more about each other and discovered they had a whole lot in common. So much in fact, that it became a running joke between them to say “imagine that” when each new commonality was discovered. Before they knew it, it was past midnight and they had been chatting for five hours. Reluctantly, the two parted but not before agreeing to meet online the following night. They knew even then that there was something special going on but neither one of them had the courage to admit it to the other.

When Kira woke up the next morning she rushed to her computer intending to jot off a quick email to her new friend. Morgan had beaten her to it. In Kira’s inbox sat an email saying good morning and wishing her a great day. Kira replied with much the same and was anxious for her work day to end so that she could come home and chat with her new friend.

That night was the first of many conversations the two of them enjoyed. They would stay up until all hours chatting away. Finally one night, Morgan being the braver of the two, asked Kira if she had a photo.

Kira laughed. “Um…Yeah…. I have one…but I don’t want to scare you off with it.”

Morgan replied, “I won’t run if you don’t. You haven’t seen mine yet. It’s scary.”

Kira highly doubted that….but readily agreed. Kira sent her picture and anxiously awaited for Morgan’s. Kira had never before sent her pic out over the net and was a bit nervous about it. Her email notification went off. Oh boy! Here we go What if I don’t think she’s cute? What if she doesn’t think I’m cute? A thousand thoughts went through Kira’s mind as she opened the email and got a look at who she had been talking to.

She slowly scrolled down until she reached the pic. Long dark hair….OH MY GOD! Kira stared at the picture in front of her. Look at those eyes. Staring at her from the computer screen were the most beautiful vivid blue eyes she had ever seen. Kira was blown away. Kira’s instant messenger went off. She clicked away from the pic to the message……

”So…..did I scare you away with my pic?”

Kira didn’t know how to respond. She clicked back to the pic. Hell no you didn’t scare me away. Not with those eyes.

Kira typed back, “Nope still here. Very cute.”

It was the best she could come up with. She clicked back to the pic. Wow!!!

Morgan replied, “I think you’re full of shit.”

Kira’s response to that was quick. “Oh hell no I’m not. I happen to think you’re very cute and there’s nothing you can say about it so there…..BTW have you seen my pic yet.? Must not have, you’re still chatting with me.”

Morgan’s response was just as fast, “Yes…..I’ve seen your pic…nice….very nice!”

She had indeed seen the pic and Kira was just about the cutest damn thing she ever seen. Amazing smile…..short blonde hair……and her eyes. DAMN!

Kira blushed from head to toe. Ok she thinks I’m cute. “You’re the one who’s full of shit now I think.”

“Nope. Just know what I like. Got a problem with that…..tough.”

Kira laughed, “Ok Ok think what you like, but I still think you’re full of it.”

Not much more was said about the pictures but in both their minds they were thinking the same thing. I’d like to meet that person but neither of them had the courage to do or say anything about it. At least…not yet.

Their nightly conversations continued. The more the two learned about each other…the more they liked each other. One night, out of the blue, Morgan made a comment that would further change things.

“You know something, I’d really like to be able to hear what your voice sounds like someday.”

Kira, who was normally very careful about giving any type of information out over the internet, didn’t think twice. She typed in her phone number with the reply, “I’d like to hear your voice too.”

Next thing Kira knew her phone was ringing. Oh shiiiit! That’s gonna be her. What do I do now? Should I pick up the phone? Should I just let it ring? Oh hell. She grabbed the phone.

“Hello?” she said tentatively.

“Hi! It’s Morgan. Um….how ya doing?”

“Um, Hi…..I’m doing fine and yourself?” came Kira’s nervous reply.

Morgan broke the ice. “Are you as nervous about this as I am?”

Kira burst out laughing. “Yeah I think I am. I’ve never done this before.”

“Me either. Are you sorry that you are?” Morgan asked.

Now that she had relaxed a little bit Kira replied, “No, not at all. I’m really glad you called.” She blushed. “I like the sound of your voice. Very nice.”

It was Morgan’s turn to blush. “Same here.”

And so it began. They talked about everything….their jobs…their kids…..past relationships. They found out that they had both been terribly hurt in the past and didn’t want to be hurt that way again.

Their conversations on the phone would sometimes see them up all night. Something, neither could say exactly what, was pulling them inexplicably closer and closer to one another. They knew that someday they would have to meet….and that day was coming…..sooner then either of them expected.

Kira was falling in love. How could that be? She had never met this person face to face …yet with every word spoken, every email written, she was drawn closer and closer to Morgan. What was it about her? Was it the way Morgan said her name? Was it the tender way she said goodnight? Kira didn’t know….but she had to find out. She wanted to meet Morgan…and soon.

Morgan was facing the same dilemma. She was falling head over heels in love with Kira. That’s impossible. I’ve only been talking with this girl for a couple of weeks. I’ve only seen her picture. What the hell is going on? I’m gonna meet this girl…..I’ve got to meet her.

A few nights later curiosity got the better of Morgan. Will Kira come to meet me? She decided to throw the possibility out there.

“You want to know something.”

“What’s that hon?” Kira replied.

Ok here it comes…the big yes….or the damn no. Morgan took a deep breath. “Um, well we’ve been talking for what….about a month now right?”

“Yeah….” Kira was suddenly nervous.

“Well, I just thought, well……I’d like us to meet someday. What…..um…How do you feel about that?”

Kira swallowed hard. Here it is…the moment of truth. Can I really meet her face to face? She really didn’t have to think too hard or too long.

“When would you like to hook up?” Kira shook her head in disbelief. Did I just say that?

It was Morgan’s turn to be surprised. “Um, well when would YOU like to meet?”

Kira thought fast. Didn’t she say she’s off this weekend. I am too. No, that’s too soon isn’t it? Oh what the hell…you’re only young once.

“You’re off this weekend right?” Kira started in a rush, “Well so am I…..so how about I leave tomorrow?” Oh shit now I’ve done it.

Morgan’s mind raced. This weekend? Did she just say THIS weekend??!! Too soon? Hell no! “You want to come down this weekend?”

“Yeah…Yeah I do. If that’s ok with you? Is it too soon do you think?” Oh God, now I’ve really done it. Damn big mouth! When are you ever going to learn….

“When were you thinking of leaving?” Morgan’s mind was still going a mile a minute. This weekend….damn! Will she really say yes?

“Well, um…….I could leave as soon as tomorrow…..” came the nervous reply.

Morgan tried not to get her hopes up. “You’re bullshitting me right? You’re not really going to drive all the way here from Wisconsin just to meet me……Are you?”

Kira heard the wanting in Morgan’s voice and was suddenly no longer afraid. “Yeah I am. And I’m leaving tomorrow. Is this a problem…or would you rather I not come down there?” Alrighty then, I’d like to know where in the hell that came from? Suddenly she was nervous again. “I mean, I’d really like to meet you and we’re both off…..I have the money right now…..Um….”

Morgan couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Kira was coming to see her. Her heart danced for joy. She had to get the house cleaned, get things in order, go grocery shop…….

“Morgan? Are you still there?” Oh great! Scared her off!

“What? Huh?” Morgan snapped out of her reverie. “Oh my God…I’m sorry. Yeah I’m here. I just…..”

Kira’s heart felt a pang. She doesn’t want me to come.

“I was just thinking of all of the things I’ll need to do before you get here.” Morgan explained.

Did she? Oh my God! She did! She wants me to come!!! OH YAY! “You really want me to come then?“ Kira had to be sure.

“Yeah, I’d really like that.” was Morgan’s soft reply. “What time do you think you will be leaving then?”

Kira was soooo excited she couldn’t stand it. “Um, I’ll probably leave at around 7 am or so….that should put me down there around 3 or 4 your time.”

“Sounds like a plan to me.”

“Well then I’d better get off this here phone and get packing.” Kira couldn’t believe it. She was going to meet Morgan. Whoa! “Um, do you want me to call you when I leave or….”

Morgan was just as astonished as Kira was. “Um….Yeah call me when you leave so I know you made it out the door ok.” God, I sound like a geek!

“Ok….shall do. Talk to you in the morning then….” Am I really doing this? Yes I am…..holy shit!

Doubt began creeping over Morgan. “Are you really going to come down here? I mean really…honestly?”

Oh oh! “I’d like to but…..if you don’t want me to…..” Kira was on the verge of tears….she couldn‘t explain why. She’s changed her mind. Damn!

“Oh I want you to.” Boy do I want you to. “I just want to make sure you are ok with this.”

“I am if you are…….and if so, I’m leaving at 7 tomorrow morning. Ok?”

“See you around 5 or 6 then. Call me when you leave.”

“I will. Talk to you then.”

“Talk to you then. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.”

Morgan panicked for a minute. “Kira! Wait! Are you really coming?”

Kira laughed. “Yes, I am. I can’t believe it either. I’ll be on my way at 7 am. Count on it…Ok?”

Morgan relaxed. “Ok…just making sure. You’re not going to change your mind or anything are you?”

“I don’t plan on it…no. I really want to meet you.”

“Good, cuz I really want to meet you too hon. Talk to you in the morning then.”

“Ok hon. Goodnight…again.” Kira giggled.

“’Night!”

Morgan hung up the phone. Oh shit! She’s really coming down here. Where do I start? She yelled for her kids. “You guys are never going to believe this but….”
