North Carolina
Our trip to North Carolina was very short, only a few hours on a Sunday afternoon, driving South on the Outer Banks. We started in Kitty Hawk, where the Wright brothers flew for the first time (for about 15 seconds), at Kill Devil Hill. We then went to Nags Head, that looked a bit deserted - no tourists in sight. From there, we drove further to Roanoke Island. Got there a little too late, so we couldn't see the famous Elizabethan Gardens - we just peeked through the gate, smelled the hyacinths and watched the squirrels playing in the crepe myrtles.
