| CSI:NY Dead Of Winter |

| Dead Of Winter is the first in the CSI:NY novel series. The other two cities have enjoyed success at the helm of critically acclaimed author Max Allan Collins, but per his request, he is sticking to Vegas now. Kaminsky comes in cold to the CSI franchise and it is somewhat noticable. Although it is a moderately enjoyable read, the characterisation is sometimes a little off, including the backstory to one of the pivotable leads, Stella Bonasera. Whereas fans of the show will know that she grew up in an orphanage with no family to speak of, Dead Of Winter suddenly creates 'aunts and cousins' who visit her occasionally... As for Aiden Burn, her role is alot like that in the show. She's partnered with Mac on the case of man found shot to death in an elevator. She does well in the case, but, again, her dialogue and characterisation is slightly different. Overall, Dead Of Winter is a good read, although I cant help hoping any future novels are better. |
