| At
one time Steve Hamby was one of the up coming new stars of Country
Music. He appeared on many live Radio and T.V. shows in the early
seventies. He did shows with many of the Nashville stars and even
though well-known in the West, and having many opportunities, he never
rose above being a local hit. After moving to Nashville in the early
eighties, he was a featured artist in many of the Nashville hot-spots,
winding up in the famous Printers Alley for a short while. After paying
his dues for a time on Sixteenth Avenue, he gained an opportunity to
release his first, and last Country song on a reputable label. He was
featured in Billboard Magazine with good reviews, and a "bullet" going
up the charts. Then Steve met God. That turned his new found fame into
a bad dream. Shortly after that, he gave up Country Music for good. Steve is now a member of the C.C.M.A.(Christian Country Music Association), and the I.C.G.M.A. (International Country Gospel Music Association), and he has never regretted leaving the spiritless side of his musical roots. He has written a tremendous amount of inspirational music that reflects the true peace and joy that he is now able to live. This past year he was featured in the C.C.M.A. Magazine, C.C.M.A News, Gospel Music Disc Jockey, The Gospel Voice, Cash Box, Christian Country Music Review, Christian Country Network, Airplay International, Positive Country Spotlight, The European Christian Country D.J., and has been a featured artist on "three" Circuit Rider CD's. He performed at many Conventions, campmeetings and other Christian programs, and did four live Television shows across the country. His live concert and Testimony are being aired on several Christian Radio and Television shows across the country at this time, and this fall he will be hosting his own Christian Country Television show which will be taken into all parts of the world. He performed last fall at the C.C.M.A. Convention in Nashville Tennessee and this spring at the Gold Cross Awards Show in Dallas Texas. He has played to 5000 people and to as few as three, because Steve Hamby doesn't spread the Word of God for the glory, nor the fame. If the honors are never handed out, he will still be out there feeding the sheep. He is dedicated to putting the food before them until the Master's return. His motivation is not for magnification, but a deep concern for his fellow man. He is truly convinced that time will run out for this world in his own lifetime. He believes that God has given him a responsibility to tell those around him the wonderful news of Jesus Christ, and that's why he writes "The Word in Song". |
