Poems from the evening

For Just A Moment
Written by Brenda Penepent, LPN
For just a moment I'm sure I saw a flicker of light ahead.
Perhaps it was your smile. Though past now, remembered,
in my heart like the small sound of a butterfly passing by.
No night is so dark that cannot be brightened with memories of you.
Raindrops carry along your blessings from heaven
to wash away my tears and bring me hope anew.

BORROWED HOPE
By Eloise Cole, Scottsdale, Arizona

Lend me your hope for awhile.
I seem to have mislaid mine.

Lost and hopeless feelings accompany me daily.
Pain and confusion are my companions.
I know not where to turn.
Looking ahead to the future times
does not bring forth images of renewed hope.
I see mirthless times, pain-filled days, and more tragedy.

Lend me your hope for awhile,
I seem to have mislaid mine.

Hold my hand and hug me; listen to all my ramblings.
I need to unleash the pain and let it tumble out.
Recovery seems so far distant;
the road to healing a long and lonely one.
Stand by me; offer me your presence.
Your ears and your love acknowledge my pain.
It is so real and ever present.
I am overwhelmed with sad and conflicting thoughts.

Lend me your hope for awhile,
A time will come when I will heal
and I will lend my renewed hope to others.

The Butterfly
Connie Good -4/10/2000

I swear, it looked me straight in the eye...
But it fluttered wildly and I wondered why.

In the very smallest voice it seemed to say
"Yes, you ... don't go away!"

I was frozen to the spot as it brushed my cheek;
My eyes crossed, my knees went weak.

"I'm an angel..." And then it dived
and dipped then cried...

"They're watching  you, from heaven above...
I'm here to tell you of their love."

I felt so warm, a special light.
Then so suddenly it took flight!

I could hear my own heart sing!
For my angel in training wings!

Just remember when one flutters by...
It's telling you rejoice, don't cry.

Lost ones are in our heart, and when you pray,
A butterfly comes down to wipe tears away.

Stay very still, don't move away.
A butterfly will come someday.

I CAME TO BRUSH YOUR TEARS AWAY
Unknown

My dearest loved one, here on earth; I saw a tear fall down your face.
You didnt see me standing there, nor could you feel my soft embrace.

But I was standing next to you, I know you looked around.
You seemed to wonder what it was you thought you heard a sound.

Yes my love, it was I, Who came to check on you
I saw a tear fall from your eye; I knew you were feeling blue.

Even though you cannot see me. Please know that I am near
I am now an angel from above to brush away your tear.

I know each day you think of me and many times shed a tear.
But please just close your eyes and know that I am near.

As I have told you often, do not be afraid to cry.
It does relieve the pain knowing we had to say Goodbye.

One thing is for certain, Even though life on earth is oer
Im still closer to you now than ever I was before.

I know you still dont understand why I had to leave this earth
God doesnt have any secrets; its just all planned from our birth.

Someday when you have joined me and meet God at his Throne,
Its them you will understand the question that have been

Light a Candle
Light a candle for those we mourn.
Into a new life they will be born.
Do not look for them at the gravesite.
They are somewhere else radiating their beautiful light.
They have gone to a new world where there is no darkness, no pain.
Their light and essence will always remain.
Light a candle for those who have left this mortal place.
They are free to travel through time and space.
When we think of them, they are near.
When we sit in a beautiful garden. Their voices we hear.
When we listen to a divine symphony,
We close our eyes, their faces we see.
Light a candle for they have not really gone.
With each flickering flame, in your hearts they will always belong.
