From Daisuke's father,

The following message was sent from his father.

Although, we were informed that he was first on the waiting list, he had an unbearable pain because of the fluid(ascities) build up in his stomach. On July 27th at 9'oclock in the morning, when they planned a surgery to remove the fluid, there was a donor, but the liver was not functional. So, Daisuke was not able to have a transplant.

The next day he had nausea, but on the 30th he did not have nausea any more and seemed to be doing better than before. However, at midnight that day, he got a high fever. Medicine he was given helped the fever go down, but next the calf on his right leg turned red and started to emit heat. The next day he went back to hospital to examine his leg and immediately he was diagnosed as blood poisoning(sepsis). There was no other choice but to amputate his leg from a little above his knee. Daisuke himself understood that the surgery had to be done to save his life. After the surgery on the 31st he was in the ICU, but his liver and kidney were almost non-functioning. What's more, fungus spread to his other organs such as his lungs. Without ever regaining conscious from the sedatives from the surgery, he passed away quietly.

We are  very disheartened that he was not able to have the transplant surgery when it was so close. However, he himself as well as everyone involved has without regret tried the best we can. I am proud of my son whounwaveringly did his best and never complained even to the very last moments. We truly appreciate your strong care and support from the bottom from our heart.
